Are these Rose beetles

Perth, United Kingdom(Zone 7b)

I saw lots of these small metallic green beetles on some yellow flowers (I think St Johns Wort). They resemble Rose beetles but were smaller, only about 6mm long. This was late June in Kent, SE England, location was a disused chalk quarry.

Thanks for any info,

Dave

Looks like you are right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetonia_aurata

Yes they do resemble Rose beetls apart from the size - Rose beetles are around 20mm long but these were only 5-6mm. Maybe size varies this much naturally.

Thanks

We might be calling it by different common names. These are half the size that you are using as a reference.☺
