This is a beetle larva, probably from a ladybird beetle. I'm not a beetle expert, but this looks like the well distributed Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle, Harmonia axyridis. We have them all over the US and they are also found in the UK. Compare to:

I agree. Very good guy to have hanging out in your garden. Its favorite food is aphids.
