When stepping out of the car to enter the library, this large (2") bug surprised me. It remained motionless while I got a few pix of it. Any ideas?

CLOSED: What is it?
This is the Eastern Dobsonfly, Corydalus cornutus. Its larvae are called Hellgrammites and are aquatic predators. After a few years they emerge from the water to become adults.
