please identify this for me, im very confused and sickened

Tonight i saw a insect crawling across my laminate wooden flooring in my living room.
It was black in color, and roughly 1.5 - 1.75 inches long by 0.5 - 0.8 cm wide and about 0.3cm deep in width.
It had no hair upon it and i didn't get a chance to count its legs but it was crawling with little distance below it, like a milometer height off the floor.
I'm rather confused about it as I've never seen another like it and it weirded me out a little.
Could someone please identify it and let me know whether or not its venomous please.
