I am in southern New Jersey and have found 2 of these very large non-flying bugs in my yard in the last week. I recently had several tree stumps ground out of the yard. Ortho max killed the one - it was on my deck and it was huge and scared my kids. Any help is appreciated. I just want to know what these buggers are.
They DO fly, they just haven't taken flight.
It's a boring beetle of some type.
Would definitely exterminate any to protect my plants and trees.
