How Long Does It Take from Inflo. to Flowers?

Tucson, AZ

i like how you displayed the flowers. haha! =)

i will get a pic once it really starts blooming in earnest. i think i picked up a slight peachy fragrance today. woo hoo! prolly saved from the trash heap. i do not want to pollute the gene pool. LOL no fragrance = trash =( thick petals are a plus!

Very highly discriminated taste! LOL. Here is 'Raspberry' lone blossom. I've gotta feed these babies more often. lol

imagine if i were in the business of producing leis. even more would end up on the cutting room floor. LOL

why do you say that you have to feed them more?

Mr. D, see the KH's inflo versus Raspberry's? KH inflo. produces lot of flowers, where as Raspberry is scanty...kinda like fussy mussy. lol

that could be characteristic of the plant. some plumies are like that. no showing inflos and a few flowers at a time.

That is it. That described 'Raspberry' as a T.

i know kimo is like that, but i have two. LOL because i am silly like that. =)

How are your cuttings coming along Mary? Any sign of new growths?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Lily - The cuttings I received in the swaps are now full blown plants... they are doing really well... I suppose one has to be patient for blooms... I dont' expect any this year.

Hubby is really pleased because a couple have branched out... (two branches)... The one we had to tie off seems to be doing well too... It's been heat advisory hot here but they don't seem to mind too much....

Good job! Enjoy.

Lily, your Kona Hybrid #26 and Dwarf Singapore Pink are gorgeous. I finally have an inflorescence on one of my plumies, so hopefully I'll have some blossoms in the next few weeks. Thanks for sharing the progression from inflorescence to bloom. Annette

I ordered a few cuttings from a co-op on another forum, potted them up in June, and they seem to be thriving. A few of them came with inflos, and they haven't fallen off. They seem to be thriving, except the Bridal Pudica Pink, which is finally leafing out this week.

Finally what do you feed your plumies? These were put outside once it warmed up here, and they took their time leafing out, and now only one inflo. They've been fertilized with granular fertilizer as well as fish emulsion, and now I've started feeding them with Miracle Grow. They also get about 6-7hrs of afternoon sun, yet no inflos except the one I posted above. I've also been dealing with the leaning tower of Jeanie Moragne, which can be seen in the picture staked to keep it from falling over. I don''t want to cut it yet since it only bloomed for the first time last year.

Hi Annette, those look healthy. I rarely fertilize mine, but several times during early spring. I've one that grows horizontally like that of J.Moragne, perhaps it's one. I've several that bearing seedpods which took all the energy out of the plant thus no new flowers formation. I should give those more fertilizer, but I failed to do so. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Love the Raspberry.

To my surprise, Kona Hybrid #26 turns its final color like this. And yes spent flowers have a light fragrant.
