This is the pupa of a moth of some type =).

Yes, obviously. LOL I need to know if I should let it alone or destroy it.

Ahahah well I thought i would tell you, some people dont know any better XD.
I would leave it be.
BUT if you are afraid it will hatch into a pest, you could maybe make a little jar for it, or something, with a leaning stick so it can dry it's wings.
If it hatches into something good, let it go, and if not, throw in some chloroform, and put it on display lol.

if it is a couple of inches or more long it will probably be a beautiful Silk Moth or Hawk moth. Please leave it be to see what comes out

I have it in a jar and will post a pic when it opens. It's about an inch long. Should I cover it with soil?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

yes cover with soil about 1" below & over the top and put good air holes in the jar lid. Put in tall jar or container if you have one and add a twig so it has something to climb on and let its wings unfold and hang to dry

make sure its loose soil. not heavy =X.

Done. Thanks.
