CLOSED: Burned praying mantis?

Johannesburg, South Africa

I found this insect with a part of its body looking burned.
I'm not sure if it is a disguise rather.
Could you help, please?

It does appear to have been hurt in a fire. Looking closely, you can see where it is missing the ends of it's limbs.

I looked back to see if the poster was from Texas, we had so many wildfires this year I am sure there are a lot of toasted insects.

It could have been burned in a fire, but why did it not die?
Besides, the last grass fires in this park [Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve - Johannesburg] had happened more than six months earlier.

It could have been singed and had the dead parts fall off later. Not all things burned die. It's a lucky critter, that's for sure.
