My son and I were looking for beetles today and to our surprise found this large group of beetles huddling under a piece of wood on his tree house. I have been searching online, but can't find anything that matches what we found. It looks as though it may be some sort of weevil? It is reddish orange and has a metallic dark blueish black spot on its back, it also has a pattern of small black dots lining the rim of his body, its head is dark metallic blueish black. There was a much larger beetle that walked backwards from the group and dripped something from its back end, then walked back and stood on top of the group. We live in north east Texas.
Thanks for taking the time to help us out!
