Last night dh dug up in front of the coop where the addition will be for my silkies.I hired the young man next door to help because dh is on the road most of the week (truck driver) he didn`t come yesterday or today, and the rest of the week it is going to rain so probably this is all that will get done this week.I`m one of those peaple that wants something done right away don`t like waiting. It will be nice to have all the chickens in one coop. Will keep pictures comming as things get done,it may be all summer.lol Thats suppose to say starting the addition not staring

Staring the addition to the coop
I see the 4-legged foreman is on the job.
So a little impatient are we...LOL...So is the new addition going to be for silkies only and, just what color of silkies do you have at this point? Also are you planing on getting more silkies, and if so what colors. Yes I want to know everything your doing and planning...LOL...Hay
It's always exciting to see others build and plan their new coop's and flocks...Yes pic's will be expected. Your Hubbie must be a great guy...
Oh yes Tilley was helping dig holes.Yes the new additon is for silkies only. Its not going to be that big,If I had the money it would be as big as the big girl coop 16x8.I have white, black, blue, and partridge color silkies.Would like some splash.Hay I had some red silkies a couple years ago,I did not like the color and they turned out to be roosters so they found new homes.I have a couple peaple that want to buy silkies from me but I don`t have enough to sell right now.I have four girls, two roosters and the six babies.I wish the other girls would go broody so I could order some splash eggs from ebay. And yes Hay my hubbie is a great guy when it comes to building me coops and runs,He keeps saying no more coops or runs right? And I say right and I do mean it at the time.
To funny, operative words (at the Time)...LOL
Congratulations Green, it's lovely. :) I'm happy for you.
You coops are so nice! Can't wait to see the progress.
Talk about being impatient, I have been here every day, just waiting for progress. Come on already...LOL...
Your husband is a truck driver, but I must say I'm impressed with his carpentry skills. I wished I knew more about carpentry, I get by but there is so much more I would like to learn...Your coops are really nice and attractive. I'm glad my chickens don't care about their coops, when it comes to looks...That lady in Tennessee, I can't remember her name, she built herself a very attractive coop also. Sheeesh, I almost asked her if she could teach me how she did it...Hay
ZZ is no slouch at coop-building either!
It has rained everyday and the young man I hired was suppose to come and start building the frame in the garage but has not showed up or called.DH has not been home expexting him today.Calling for showers today and tomorow,I don`t like to have him work on sundays so no progress this week.
I agree, hubby does deserve some down time...That hired hand, hmmm, just not sure about him...We can wait!!! Argggg...Hay
Yes I can wait because dh could have said no to more building.lol
Porkpal I totally agree about ZZ's, but that lady is not a slouch about anything...she comes up with some of the greatest ideas, and I just shake my head...
She also has a knack for names that makes me envious. The clod of dirt for pasty butt, and on and on...Hay
Indeed! We have some valuable human resources here!
YEA!!!!!!!!! He showed up today and the weather was nice while he was here(thunder and lightning and rain now)We could have got a lot done if we had had the material, but got it all level and the floor frame is built and in the garage,he said he would be here at 9 Monday and we would go get materials.Going to make the new part taller so I can use the french doors that I bought second hand from my sister. Will let lots of sun in in the winter to warm it up in the coop.Tony is a good carpenter and very fast. Will post pictures as he gets things done,I am so excited.I know my silkies are to I can just tell.lol
Ah yes, the ever helpful Tilly supervises again!
Hi Green,
That looks great! Would you be willing to share some more pictures of the coops and runs? I am looking for ideas for mine.
Thanks!
I have two runs, this one was built last year and the one on the other side is smaller and was buit three years ago when we built the big coop. This way I can change off and they will have green grass most of the summer.Thats a potatoe barrel in the corner ith plastic over it and they do use it to lay eggs in.
Now thats what I'm talking about...Love the pic's, great pic with hubby and the girls supervising...LOL...everything is so green, no pun intended. Lush green and chickens runing around on it...It doesn't get any better than that...
May I come be one of your chickens, please?
Yes you can do you want to live wth the silkies or the buff orpintons?
Wow! If I had that amazing set up, I'd have a gazillion chickens! Very nice!
Thank you for the kind words Porkpal & Hay.. :)
It's so beautiful! Do you mow grass all summer long? Sure looks like you must have a riding lawnmower. Everything is so clean and tidy looking, and gorgeous. You are a number one chicken mama Green.
The run, does it have chicken wire on the top?
I'm sure Zz would have gazillion chickens. Hope you get blessed with the desires in your heart Zz, and soon too.
None of the pictures were taken this year, our grass just started growing a few days ago with all the rain we had,Yes I mow all summer long. These pictures are only out back of my house,it takes me about three hours to do all the mowing and weed wacking. And yes to the riding lawm mower. My big coop will hold 20 to 30 chickens and the silkie coop has 6 babies and two rooster and four hens.I`m going to count tonight when I go out and close them up and they are all on the roosts how many big girls I have. I counted and there are 29 in the big coop, BO`s,2 faverolles, sex links, 2 EE`s 1 frizzle rooster, one barred rock hen that stays in a seperate pen with the little frizzle rooster cause the big orp rooster hates her but frizzle loves her.

I always lover looking at your photos. Everything looks magazine photo ready =D! Lots of hard work I'm sure, but happy work, too!
This is the garage that we built 5 years ago there was a big barn there but was all rotted out.And the pool that we bought second hand 16 years ago and I keep thinking every year this will be the last year for it but it makes it through the rough winters, there was a wooden fence around it but every year some rots and has to thrown away, now it has none as the last of it got thrown away a week ago.I did have to buy a skimmer for it this year but will not put any big amount of money into it as its so old.
These are the french doors that will go into the west end of the coop for the sunshine in the winter to help warm it up.Got a good deal my sister took them out of her house.Hay this is dh`s bike,I know you have a bike thought you woud enjoy looking at it,had many good trips on this bike years ago,but both of us are to big now for double riding on it.DH bought this new many years ago.Just got it back from getting some work done on it,it wouldn`t stay running,it does work a little better but I`m sure its from lack of use and old.
