I love silkies

(Zone 6b)

When I get back home I may post the video I was accidentally taking before I shot this picture. Btw this wasn't my idea, I saw a young man on fb take his own picture in the mirror not long ago. Looked neat.

The camera was taking a video without my knowledge. Kind of funny. It may make you laugh. You can see what a mess I am and the bare floor where I tore out the carpet. Can't decide what to do in that room. I have some plumbing problems in the back bathroom there, and it had caused mold to grow under the carpet. YIKES, yes I know. So, I single handedly cut the carpet in strips and threw it out. Not only was there carpet, but three layers of old linoleum, which I used a hammer and putty knife to remove. It was a lot of work to me, and now I have this floor I can't decide what to do with. I will NOT put anymore carpet there, for certain. I was looking into something non toxic. There are some products but I'm unsure on the durability of them. Marmoleum is one, but it has some very mixed reviews.

I have 3 of the 4 walls painted and maybe 1/5 of the ceiling. Then, that was all the energy I had. That was months ago.

At least that carpet it OUT. Thank God for that!

Thanks for the kind words. So many bad things are going on at once here now. I never knew so many other DG chicken heads were sick too, then with the tornadoes, things are rather sad at the moment. I hope people are getting the help they need in Joplin. My daughter said people in Amarillo were loading up food and shovels and anything they thought they might need. Not sure who was sponsoring that, but probably many around the country are chipping in to help. I just hope it's enough.

Here I do this very daring thing, posting a picture of myself, my real self on facebook, and do you know not one person has even commented. At least with you ladies, I'll get some kind of response, even if you lie, you always talk nice! :) Guess I'll have to post something under status for anyone to notice. It took me months to put my real name on fb, and because my last name is so unusual I was accused of it being fake too.

Here's the picture I've had on fb for the last few years, and now nobody noticed a change.

I need to sleep.

It's nice to see a face to go with a name :). I'm not big on FB, but occasionally get around to adding a picture. Never got a comment until I posted the cows....

I don't know what that means about me or anyone else....

(Zone 6b)

With 1200 friends they keep me pretty informed on what is going on, mainly by posting videos. I try to repost what I find most interesting. If anyone wants to add me, light4jesus@gmail.com

We are being highly monitored on many fronts, fb being one of them.

(Zone 5b)

YAY, another face to put with a name! You are a beautiful woman, LFJ!

(Zone 6b)

Thanks AnnieBBB. Not too bad for 54 I guess, but I can tell I am aging. Aren't we all?

(Zone 5b)

Yup. we're all aging, but having a lot of fun doing so. Think how much smarter we are too LOL

Lordy, LFJ, only 54. Now I really feeling like old man River...Hay

Green I have twenty of thes red silkies running around here. I know you said you didn't like the color, but, I have found them to be very enjoyable, friendly, and really funny. I have a lady comming to pick all of them up in a couple weeks, so I'll just enjoy them until then...I also have several of the Dutch silkies, I like them a lot. The hens are light buff with blue ear lobes, and the Roos are really red with white earlobes. They also are very friendly and terribly funny...Hay

Hay they are very fun to watch as babies, they play all the time. You are very lucky in finding peaple to buy your stock and that they can all go togather to the same home. How long have you had chckens?

Hi Green, Yes I agree, I have been very fortunate with my customer base. I must say I have been very fortunate in life in general. When I think of the wonderful people on this forum, when I think of the wonderful customers I have had. I think of the wonderful chickens I have spent so many years with, it is quite over whelming. I have raised chickens for twenty years. We also had them when I was a small boy. I must say I cannot explain my good fortune, except to say I feel God has been very good to me. I honestly never felt I deserved my wonderful friends, I only know I have had some of the very best, deserved or not. I have truly been stunned to have been on this forum for four years and the kindness I have been showed by the ladies here still amazes me. I have the highest respect for everyone of you, and that is no joke. I love to kid around and never have had to worry that someone would take me wrong. That is a privlege I don't take lightly. The chickens are wonderful, but the chickenheads even more wonderful. I have never felt like I don't belong here with all the hens, That also is a privlege...Hay

Tilley and the rooster checking each other out,she is doing very well with the chickens. She does not chase them and when she touches them they scream and she comes running to me and says I didn`t do anything.LOL They were free ranging yesterday but was eating my grass seed so had to go back in.

Jadee does not want her kids anymore, she chases them and pecks them, last night they had to sleep without her she wantd to be with the others on the roost.she started laying three days ago so I know this was going to happen but I feel so bad for the babies when this happens.I can`believe how fast this two months went by.

Love those pic's, darlin with Tilley and Mr. Roo. Jadee has done her job, and done it well. Now she needs a break and wants fellowship with her peers...I love it...Hay

I have two hens in with four chicks, and I sure wish the Mom's would give up. I treid seperating them when I moved them, and it was soooo pathetic on both sides of the wire that I gave in. Couldn't stand the wailing...

I wonder if its the different breeds that want their babies with them longer?
