It's been an absolutely glorious day here with temp's in the low 80's and breezy ... much different than the past few days which were extremely hot and humid. I enjoy playing outside on days like this.

Debra: This one is from the seeds you sent me of the Purple Splash Japanese Morning Glory. Only one bloom so far but lots of buds. Isn't she pretty?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh so beautiful, Lin.. I am glad I sent them to you. I wish more peole would want some, I have millions of seeds from Last Years japanese morning glory grow outs.

(Zone 1)

Debra: I am so glad you sent them to me too! I never really thought much about Morning Glories and I'm really loving this one ... the color is just gorgeous! If this vine produces seeds I will definitely be collecting them!

Red Oak, TX

Hello Everybody!! It's a Beautiful cool spring day here in Red Oak, Texas.

plantladylin, It seems to be Hoya blooming time, I have a few to share as well.
Sunshinesw from Florida got me hooked on them a few years ago, she had quite a collection.
It will be nice to see the new bloom from your Rick Rack cactus plant. I was disapointed to find that what I thought were buds on mine were just new foliage.
I've had a dragon fruit plant about 4 ft. now for several years without any buds, I will probably have to move it to a sunnier location.

dyz, lovely pictures! That peach plumeria is gorgeous.

GAgirl1066 I am glad that you like the Caiathea Zebrina, I found another bloom on it today. I promise it is much prettier than the photo I took, it made my day.

mjsponies, Thank for the suggestions you made, I am a little wiser after researching them. Joeswife came through with the name, it is a Ipomea Machoriza. Definately a keeper!!
That is a very nice variegated Hoya. The leaves on mine are shriveling up, I suspect that I am watering too much.

RachelLF, pretty Hoya, but I am loving the Pinellia. It is a shame that it only lasts for a couple of months.
This is a new Monstera dubia cutting from e-bay (shingle plant). I have another but it came all squished up, but still hoping to get it to take root in some spagnum.

This is a Stephonotis vine, it is hard to get a good picture of it even though it is beautiful. There are a few more blooms at the top of the hoop house, but I am staying away from ladders for now.

Hoya Kerrii

(Zone 1)

Wow Rita ... which Hoya is that one? It's huge and so many blooms! I feel lucky if I get one or two blooms on my plants. I lost a lot of Hoya's in last years frigid winter, a couple of really large ones (Hoya cv. Iris Marie and Hoya imperialis) that I soo hoped to see blooms on, but I guess mother nature had other ideas. I've traded cuttings with SunshineSW/Jan a couple of times but I didn't do very well with them, the only one that has survived is H. Macgillivrayii (? not sure of spelling) ... and it rooted so hopefully it will grow up and grace me with a bloom some day!

Love that Rex Begonia Vine ... I've never had one and have seen photo's and always loved the looks of it. The Duranta is so pretty, another one I don't grow but just recently considered purchasing at Lowes or Home Depot. I remember visiting a nursery a few years ago that had a huge one planted and I keep thinking I need to find a spot in my yard for one.

Love the Aristolochia ... my next door neighbor has one in her backyard that I've been taking pictures of the past week:

(Zone 1)

Oh Drat ... something is going on and I'm not able to view photo's ... showing little boxes with a question mark where the thumbnail should be!

Rita: Ok, I need tips on how to get Stephanotis to bloom!! I've had a large plant for about 8 or more years and it has NEVER bloomed! It stays out on the pool deck in full sun all day long and someone told me a few years ago that maybe the screen was filtering the sun so I should move it to a sunnier location. I moved it out to the backyard in the intense sun for a long while and still no blooms ... Grrr! I sure would like to see a bloom on that Hoya relative!

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Lin, right click on the photo...it should show you options to "View photo" sounds to me like there is a "memory" problem, but I am no computer geek.
I traded this little yellow lovely for a pencil cactus...I think I came out on the better end of the deal, other than I know it is some sort of Gesneriad I believe a Streptococcus of some sort...it is sooooooooo cute ! Lin, I bet you can tell me what this is.

Thumbnail by mjsponies
(Zone 1)

MJ: Wow, Beautiful!! That is definitely a Gesneriad and it reminds me of Chirita Aiko:

I had two very large C. 'Aiko' plants a few years ago.

(Zone 1)

There apparently was a problem with DG earlier today ... some glitch or something, it seems a few folks were having the same problems as me. I'm glad it's working ok again so I can view everyone's beautiful photo's!

Rita: I have Hoya kerrii but I can't remember when it bloomed last! Your's is really nice, and oh my ... those Stephanotis blooms!!

I noticed a little Rain Lily peeking out this afternoon:

I just remembered to go out and check the Ric Rac ... one bloom is open!

Oh my that is beautiful.

(Zone 1)

Thanks ardesia ... it smells nice too! Here's a close up of the bloom:

Just one more ... it's dark out so I had to use the flash which doesn't show the real beauty of the bloom. This is the profile:

(Zone 1)

Ok ... since I've hogged this thread maybe someone can begin a new one? This one is already up to 143 replies so it's probably time for a new one to make it easier on those who may be on dial up.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Lin, great pic on the Ric Rac !

and that's it on the Chirita...I knew you would know who she was !!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I am purposely staying away from the Farmer's Market this morning. I know there is a vendor with these awesome baskets of Ric Rac and I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER TENDER PLANT. At least that is what I keep screaming at myself. LOL

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Go for it, Alice!!!

(Zone 1)

I say go for it too! I don't find the Ric Rac to be tender at all ... it thrives on neglect in my case. My plant stays outside on the west side of the house year round, pretty close to the house so I guess it gets some protection in winter but we put an old blanket around it on extremely cold winter nights.

The bloom was still open this morning

Thumbnail by plantladylin
(Zone 1)

Grrr, something is eating my plants! I've noticed damage on the MG's, a Banana and Cordyline. Whatever the pest, it must be feeding at night because I can't find anything whenever I search the foliage. I wonder if it's army worms that get the tomatoes every year. I crushed egg shells and sprinkled them on top of the soil because I read that works ... but it hasn't helped, something is still chewing holes in the foliage. I guess I'm going to have to resort to using some type of chemical treatment.

A couple of new Morning Glory blooms this morning:

(Zone 1)

I have Pilea 'Moon Valley' planted in a couple of terrariums and noticed this one yesterday with tiny little blooms:

Thumbnail by plantladylin
(Zone 1)

MJ: That Chirita of yours is really beautiful. Some Chirita's stay on the smaller size but 'Aiko' is one that gets very large! I used to have a few shelves/plant stands with lights attached and grew African Violets and other Gesneriads like Chirita, Episcia and Sinningia. I have four or five Chirita's surviving but the only one that has bloomed in quite awhile is the C. tamiana.

If I've shared this photo recently, sorry for the repeat ... this is miniature Chirita tamiana last week:

Rita, very nice Monstera and I hope the one that got squished recovers and takes root . I'll be looking forward to seeing a picture of that one as well and I enjoyed viewing all those lovely Hoya blooms too. Would you rattle my memory and tell me if I ever sent you a start/cutting from my noid Monstera.

Lin, the Ric Rac cactus blooms are so pretty and it's a plus that they are fragrant as well. Love those Aristolchia blooms from both you and Rita.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I can only echo Rachels comments.. Love the ricrac bloom, I hope at least ONE of all my cerus type plants besides the cristmas cactus bloom this year.. and.. My hoya too..

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Rachel; What's a noid Monstera?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I think I'll have a bloom soon ! First time it's bloomed for me. Received as a cutting right a few years ago. Poor thing it's kinda been like the "Red Headed Step child" around here...but it's getting moved onto the porch so I don't miss it !

Thumbnail by mjsponies

mjs, your "red headed step child" is looking good for showing some blooms real soon.

Homer, noid means, no I.D.(identification). Sorry about my wording but now you know;)

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Rachel, oh; ok!
