Grandpa Ott for indoor plant?

Phelan, CA(Zone 8b)

I had a blue morning glory that I grew indoors, and it bloomed well for me. I had it for about 3 years, and it recently died. I was thinking of trying a Grandpa Ott this time to replace it. Would this one be good for a pot, grown indoors? (I have a west window and am in S. Calif., so plenty of sun and light). Thanks!

Why aren't you putting your plants in the ground?

I am a houseplant lover. I do have outside plants, but I want another Morning Glory to grow inside.

Seaecho - In all honesty, I think you could probably grow just about any species or cultivar of MG if you have enough light for it to grow and thrive! I have grown quite a few different cultivars and species over the past two winters indoors under lights. I had great success, so that is why I can honestly say that any would probably do fine indoors! :-) I have noticed though with the I. nil vines that the flowers don't get quite as large as they do when grown outdoors, but still just as beautiful. I try to keep the plant dwarfed somewhat by using a smaller container when growing indoors. Good luck with whatever MG vine you try! :-)

You are welcome! Do post photos of your vine growing indoors! I'd love to see it! :-) I've become an indoor gardener myself. But I tend to go a little overboard! This is a photo of my indoor green room with 32 oz. cups of MG vines! LOL! It got me through the cold winter with lots of blooms!
