CLOSED: Should I be concerned?

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Sorry about the photo. All the other photos are amazing. I was afraid to get closer. I just don't want this bug to be a tick or anything like a black widow (which we have an abundance of). (Shudder) Thank you!

Unfortunately I can't see it well enough to actually tell you what it is.
It looks like it MIGHT be an orbweaver spider.
But I really can't tell without a clear picture.

I am not an expert, but ticks are definitely smaller! Much smaller!

If I see correctly the thing has huge front legs, is that correct?

So it might also be a crab spider...

If you don't have any better pictures, maybe some more information might help:

Where exactly did you find it? (Country, place, etc)
Whats the size of the body?
How many legs? 8?
The picture looks like it is swimming in water, is this correct?

Yeah, I was too afraid to get any closer. I hate bugs, especially ticks but I love being outside. It's nice to know what to avoid. It was using its two front legs, which I thought were claws at first and when I poked it with a long stick (to see if it had a hard shell), it gracefully hopped out of the pressure of the stick. It was in my front yard in US, Tennessee (zone 8) and it had just rained. It was hanging out on a piece of concrete when it felt threatened by my presence and slid off of it. I couldn't tell you how many legs it had. We've never had a flea or tick problem in our yard so I just snapped a quick picture and ran away from the tree I was under. =) Thank you for your info!

As said before, I am no expert, but this really looks like a crab spider to me. I cannot be more specific, but I found a picture which should show the spider you photographed in good quality...

Was it this one?

I think it may be. It has different markings and It looked to have only one set of front legs. Thank you everyone for your input.

Here are our Orb Weaver images in BugFiles: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/b/Araneae/Araneidae/none/none/genus/0/

There are many with similar markings and individuals can vary even in the same species.
They are harmless to humans.
