Can't somebody somewhere do SOMETHING about the weather???!!

Everett, WA(Zone 8a)

Nice! Good luck with them.

My neighbor's Lavatera was perched on top of a mound at the top of a small slope, so rain ran off, and anything that soaked in, drained away. No organic matter, no fertilizer. It was really nice for years, and upright, but then a spring had warm and cold snaps, and went down to zero (10-15 degrees colder than usual).

Never really came back.

Coos Bay, Oregon. We went there every summer for a day to visit my mother's older sister. My poor brother, one year younger than me. ( now 39) could not go because the sand fleas ate him alive. Did not bother the rest of us.

Our current temperature is 105 with a low in the mid 80s. So enjoy your cool weather.

Actually we were at a family BBQ because grandson got baptized, and when the sun was down it was beautiful

But I tell everyone daily about your wonderful weather, rain everyday and 65 degrees. AND, water every where.

JUST WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES AND YOU WILL STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR TRIP. LOL...

But we are cooling down to 99 on Tuesday for one day. Do not fret, we have thin blood and smart enough to stay inside between 11am and 6 pm.

But, can we have some of your water. Sharon aka, Mother Winter

Sharon---Nice tomato plant. I am happy to have a couple set on at this point. Enjoy your ripe tomato in a few more days.

Had a summer sandwich for lunch. Tomato, cucumber, Vadelia onion, lettuce and bacon. YUM. Sharon.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Oh nice. I'll have a few veggies by the end of the year but so far am still finding out what the slugs prefer. (Most of everything.)

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Sharon, you are making us all drool. It will be at least a month before we can enjoy such a fresh sandwich.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well tomorrow we are going to be 106 with 30 mph gusts. Now that is a blast furnace. I am still trying to figure out what to do for my plants.

Add the individuals in North and South Dakota to your prayers. Sharon.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

45 f and a drizzle here in Petersburg AK.

Cedarhome, WA(Zone 8b)

Whenever the sun chooses to tease me, I am dropping everything to run out and mow the lawn before it returns to wetness of some sort. I do have to say the garden is growing by leaps and bounds and my new plants are all getting watered in well. So, no big complaints here.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Jack has been here since Saturday. We are leaving tomorrow for Montana.

Saturday was gorgeous. It has been cold & drizzly since. So disappointing.

I imagine that it must be raining across the Pacific Northwest -- our forum has suddenly come alive today!

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well I am here lurking from Las Vegas. Just reading about your temperatures makes me feel cooler.

I hit the garden at 6am and dive back inside around 10:30am. I try to work in the moving shade. I am just sitting for a moment and taking a break.

The garden is actually surviving because it is deeply mulched. Mulch probably came from your area.

Have a great day. 105 today but "It is a dry heat". LOL. Sharon.

Beautiful canna, Sharon. Anything over 80 I have a serious melt-down, dry or not. Guess that's why I am where I am. But, I am sure envious of the beautiful tropicals you hot-heads can grow.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

OK, I have to laugh looking at the photo of me all miserable on the deck. Yesterday I was in Beaverton (Portlandia) and it was in the 90s. Driving home through the valley the truck registered 101 degrees & a roadside stand said 104.

Once home here in the coast range, the temp was a perfect 87 and it got down around 60 last night I'll bet. It's days like this, though, that all is forgiven, no?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

It is so nice to be back in Montana with sun. I have had my heater on all the time in AK and it is flooding everywhere. Oh yes and my boat has about 13 leaks. I think I will wait till summer to fix them. Hmmmm this is summer. Oh well.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

HMMMMM... Summer it is. :). Hoping those leaks get fixed soon.

We just had an earthquake. I just happened to be in the bank and thought I was dizzy as I was standing there, but everybody started talking about it, so I knewitwasn't me. Epicenter near Richmond, VA about 4 hours from here.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Omigosh, Jan! Isn't a quake kind of an unusual occurrence out by you?

Sofer, when I was in Bigfork in July it was really HOT. Of course, I've never seen the state so green & probably never will again. I couldn't stop taking pictures. Even Great Falls looked almost good.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Yes, it is odd, Summerkid. Now we have to watch for hurricane Irene's path. We are supposed to fly to the panhandle of Florida for a beach wedding this weekend. Hmmmmm..... Wonder how long we will be delayed if they fly at all. Not gonna worry about that now, though.

Our son and DIL are participating in the Hood to Coast event this weekend. Praying the weather cooperates for them.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Jan, so is my best friend Lisa! She starts her leg at midnight Thursday. So I wish them all well. Seems like an absolutely screwy undertaking to me but that's because I get lazier as the days pass.

I've had so many mind-boggling airline adventures that nothing fazes me anymore. As long as I have a book or an embroidery project, I stay calm.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I may need to start a project for the trip.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Yes Summer it was warm then and has continued to be perfect. I though went to work in AK and soaked and froze my buttocks. It is interesting that earthquakes and hurricanes are all the event almost every week now. Hmmmmm? Jan just a little thought FORGET ABOUT THE WEDDING!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

We have decided to forego the beach wedding in Fl so we can stay home and monitor the hurricane and keep ahead of any possible flooding in our basement. Sad to miss the festivities. We'll have enough to keep us entertained here I think. Will keep you posted if I can. Should hit here Saturday night I think.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

will be thinking about you jan

Lake Stevens, WA

Jan,
Stay safe!! By the news reports it sounds like a big one. Hope they are wrong!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks!!! The storm coupled with the higher tides because of the position of the moon. It will be interesting. I'm gonna be busy tomorrow putting stuff away outside and bringing stuff upstairs from the basement. Maybe Jeff will get a generator - if they have any left. Lol.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Good Luck to you Jan. I hope it goes to the right and if it doesn't that you find something solid to hang on to. Will be thinking of you. Aren't earthquakes fun? Geesh!
