Crocosmia

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Hello,
I have just discovered Crocosmia. Can anyone tell me if they come in any color other than orange. I would also like a source for them.
I saw someone selling some "corms" on Ebay - 25 for $9.50.
I'm embarased to ask this, but are Corms the same as bulbs?

Hi, Crocosmia come in red, yellow and I've seen a two toned red with orange. Joy

Crocosmias do grow from seed also, but take a couple of years before they bloom, I have some if you are interested, I may have some bulbs in the summer that I can divide, by the way, I dont think they are corms though, I have seen them and they are tefinately a bulb or tuber (unless corm is a term used to describe any tuber/bulb) but seems to be irises are propogated from corms and they have an odd shape to them, unlike a bulb that is a uniform shape - Oh - I don't know what I am talking about.....

I got some seeds from South Africa, and can't wait to grow them, but I realise it will take several years before I see any of the blooms.

happy gardening

Thanks everyone for the help.
Pebble, I don't want any seed at the moment, but keep me in mind if you have some "traders" in the spring.
Mark, all I can say is "wow". I had no idea there were so many varieties of these. The pictures have me hooked and I will certainly have to try to find some of the different varieties for my gardens.

I'll just echo Tree_Climber's WOW. I didn't have the time to look at all of the cultivar photos, but I saw enough to whet my desire for them.

Personally, Tree_climber, in my mind bulbs, tubers, corms, and rhizomes are all different types of roots. Bulbs being like amaryllis, hyacinths, daffodils, etc; tubers being like dahlias, and I believe certain types of begonias; corms are the crocosmia and actually I think gladiolas (sp?) are large corms (they look like it to me, but I usually call them bulbs anyway); rhizomes are like the bearded iris' and the gingers (my butterfly ginger anyway). Perhaps I'm mistaken on some of this, but this is how it's always looked to me. I'm no expert.
