I know Joyce and Miss Wren that you cant come out right now, I hope you all know that if you are ever passing thru Arizona, you have a place to stay.... And Mr Haystack... well you know that boy is looking forward to seeing you one day..
Off Topic but had to share new house pictures..
I don't know how I missed this thread earlier. MissJestr, Congrats one thousand times on the new home. It is beautiful. I really like the openness of the inside. And the outside views. Wonderful!
Thankz MsJ.. I sure love the pictures... and don't envy how tired you must be with all you had to move.. (been there) and I didn't have animals to move! I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy if I even had one!
Thankz LFJ.. she is fine.. just that she is 97 and needs 24/7 care, and that care giver is me.. :) The days I curse having to be here and putting everything on hold are quickly forgotten when I think of the price I'll have to pay to be free to leave. I know it won't be forever, so I treasure every day I have that I can spend with her.
Congratulations on your new home! I hope you have many glorious years of happy living there!
Is the house adobe or is that a plaster finish? I love it. Not very green but I guess you are used to that? I'd love to live off grid but DH has to have his conveniences. LOL The sustainable living forum should be very helpful for you but please don't leave us hanging. We want to keep up with your adventures. Did you get everybody moved? I know how hard that is. It was a nightmare for us. And we didn't have any job security for 3 months after moving here so us and all the animals were just in limbo. Took a while to get all 9 horses and the pigs moved. Had somebody feeding them for us but they didn't do a good job of it. The horses lost a lot of weight and we had most of our hay supply disappear. The sow lost a litter of piglets in the malay. It was a nightmare. I pray your move has been a good one and everybody is settled in now. I can't wait to see how your place progresses. Tell Billy hello for me and give all the critters a scratch.
Everyone is moved the geese were the last to come over. Sad story about the chickens, but most of them are here. It is a plaster finish but well insulated. It was 89 yesterday and when I came in the house it was 72. I am sure it would be colder if I put curtains up. I will be posting pictures of the pens this weekend. This is what we saw when we came home the other day.
What a beautiful sight! You have the most beautiful place.
I am really looking forward to seeing more pics and following your and Billy's journey.
Billy Bob is a priority for me also. I think of him often, and how I'd love to spend some time having him show me around...It'll happen, just have to be patient about it. Man meeting up with ZZ's and comming to your place would be the frosting on the cake. I do think of it often...Haystack
It would be heaven for us as well Mr Haystack. Cajun I will take some more pictures tomorrow morning and share...
Looking forward to new pics. Whoo hoo !!
That welcoming committee looks like their happy to have you as neighbors, too. I very much feel that a good fence and good cows/horses make for really good neighbors! Once again, best of luck to you all in your new home!
I think of it often too Hay..
It's beautiful!! I wish you and Billy all the happiness in the world!
That Billy is bigger than Billy, how cute are those pic's. I adore that little man. Thanks for sharing those pic's love the pen, and it is so nice that you can keep an eye on it from the kitchen...Hay
Nice and roomy. Good job. Shouldn't that be Billy and Betty? LOL Beautiful sunset. How far away is that mountain? You and Billy will have to straddle Rosie and Chief and head out that way.
Awesome pictures Roseane... I really love being able to see them when ever I want! Love the view from the kitchen, and the nice big coop. I'm happy things are coming together for you. Love you and Billy so much.
Good view from the kitchen window! Are the mountains in the background of the kitchen view the same as in the sunset photo? I love the colors of sunset! That is what I am going for in my rose/perenial garden.
The mountains are if I look thru the left window, the coop the right window. Those mountains are about 15 miles away, there are some closer...
I am glad to share pictures and Billy the human named Billy the turkey when it was 1 day old and we never changed it.. Maybe we should spell it Billie??
The coop cost me a box of nails thats it... Pretty thrifty
Indeed! And you got to use your new tools!
Can't beat that deal with a stick! I always look in the big dumpster behind the fire department for anything I can use. My husband said I am a dumpster diver. I said I am a proud dumpster diver. I like having the luxuries of life! LOL
I love the coop even more now LOL Your new home is just beautiful and the scenery is awesome.
Not, not a Dumpster Diver, a Pro-active Recycler. I think it's part of the fun. Takes a bit of creativity, too. Nothing beats the feeling of getting something useful from something useless. MissJester, a great start! I love your pictures, and keep coming back to see how it's going.
Keep up the good work:)
Please enjoy the last pictures of Billy Bob the turkey. The carnage I came home to today rocked me to my core,. What ever happened today took out 8 of my best layers and our turkey. When the numb wears off I may talk about it. The hens I lost took out my ability to pay for Billy (the Humans) horse events this summer but god will only give me what I can handle. I only have 3 layers left and egg orders I cant fill. I know that all will be ok in the am, but right now I cant stop the tears
I have made a call to get Billy(the human) a replacement Turkey a cross between a wild and a Nantucket. .
Yes I am asking for a material issue, please say a prayer that God can find me a way to pay for Billy Bob (the human) horse events this summer or it will be a long slow summer until the juvenile birds can lay and all will be ok.
I am thankful that I have a roof over our heads and food in our tummys. All will be better tomorrow.
MissJ everything will be ok. Check you Dmail
Oh NO! Now what? OMG you have had the worst luck for predators! I'm so sorry. :( You poor thing.. I'm sick over it. :(
I wish you lived closer, I have laying hens to spare...
I wish we lived closer too. I am paring down my flock and would be glad to let you have a bunch of hens. Do you have any idea what it was? I will be praying for you guys. God knows what we need.
I am so, so sorry. It hurts so much to lose critters that are so dear to you, I know. Poor Billy, he must be heartbroken. It's so hard to keep them safe.
This morning was bitter sweet. What was once a thriving flock is gone. I so wish I lived closer to you all. The one white rock made it thru the night and we found Billy Bob feathers and brought them in the house. I made a call yesterday to a friend who has turkeys, cross between wild and nantucket. I will call her back on Sunday and we will go see her. She has some month olds and some newly hatched and is out of town today but will be available tomorrow. I have not completely searched the parameter of the place yet, but I know it was not my dogs, they have been around poultry since they were born. I am thinking it was a neighbor dog got in and did the dead and got out. I wish the wind would blow to carry the feathers that are strewn about in the wind.
The animals are not as loud today it is subdued here and my heart is very heavy. Billy knows what happened he is taking it kind of hard but I know he will bounce back.
Repairs have been made to the coop last night and I will be stringing what is left of my ranch wire on the outside for added protection.
Thanks all for the comments it is just a setback one of many to come I am sure...
Love Roseane and Billy
You guyz were the first thing on my mind this morning. I'm glad you are doing a little better. Poor Billy. :( I know you will make it through, but still.. I hope you get some help with Billy's entry fees. We love you!
Oh MissJester. I am so sorry. What a sad thing to happen. Hope you both feel better soon
I have a hurt white rock in the house. I found her yesterday I thought she was dead but still breathing. I put her in the coop inside and thought if she will make it thru the night it is ment to be. She did and this afternoon I took her to the water and she drank. I figure I can keep an eye on her in the house so in a dog crate in the middle of the living room she is resting comfortably. I dont feel anything is broken, she just lays there sleeping. I am hoping she is in shock she does not move much and Billy talks to her she raises her head.
I did notice I have 4 black chickens left and I got three eggs today That is a good sign..
