Good neighbors bad dog.

we have a neighbor down the road from us , they are a sweet couble and would do any thing for you , they have two sweet kids and we get along fine the problem is there dog Happy . he is distructive mean and a real pest. They keep him in in the house for the last couble of years but he started to tear up stuff ,so now he is an out side dog. I have two dogs joe an older black lab and sam a lab mix. Happy lives to terrorize sam , Sam is a friendly little guy who likes dogs ,cats and even a lamb he wouldn't hurt a fly . Joe is not mean but he doesn't care to be around other animals he doesn't ry to play with them he just goes off by his self except when it comes to Sam, he is his buddie you would think Joe was sams momma. Happy comes in our yard at night and chases Sam off the deck and eats his food , then he bullies him till one off us hears the rucus and runs Happy off . I tell the neighbors they feel bad and say Happy is just playing and doesn't mean to hurt Sam and they tye Happy up for about a week. Then he is back . I tried keeping sam in the house with Joe at night but he hates it and wines to go out , and well it is his yard he should be able to go out . we have both our dogs on an electric fence and collars so theystay in our yard , cant bother the neighbors or get hit by cars.Back to Happy , he chases the kids rideing there bikes , my son wrecked on his bike and got his pants tore when happy grapped his leg. I talked to the neighbors about him chasing the kids , they say Happy is just trying to play with them . so my son now takes Joe with him and his friends when they ride bikes and happy wont come out of his yard if joe is with them. two weeks ago Happy got ahold of sam and ripped his ear up. My neighbors felt horrible and chained happy back up. My other neighbor called and said she found six of her kittens mauled to death ,they weren't eaten so we know it wasn't coyotes . then the girl down the lane had her 4h rabbits mauled the were in cages but they were knocked off the stands and he got through the wire , we suspect happy, it happened the night they unchained him again . Last night Happy came back again , Joe went into my room and jumped on me wineing and growling at the same time ,he never acts like this so I get up and he runs to the back door and wines to get out thats when I heard the rucus at the back of our property Happy had sam down So I opened the door and let Joe go . I can tell you if I hadn't gotten there Happy would be a dead dog now Joe was out for blood and he got him pretty good . I took Happy home and woke the neighbors they were not happy . but Happy will be alright . Now Joe wont go in the house at night he wants to stay with sam he wont hardly let him out of his sight. I told my neighbors that Joe would be out side now at night too. they are afraid that Joe will kill Happy if happy comes down to our house again and are upset that Happy has to be penned up at night ' afterall they say we live in the country a dog should be able to run free.' I dont want to be a bad neighbor and I feel sorry for the family there kids love Happy but the other neighbors are to the point they are tired of there animals being killed .I know for a fact the hog farmer down the road said if he comes down there he is shoting him , I dont want to see that happen . But they dont seem to understand how serious the situation is.

Has any one else had a neighbor with a bad pest of a pet.

Don't you have an animal control dep't that you can call and complain to? A terrorist dog shouldn't be allowed to run free like that!

P.S.- I don't think I would call anyone a "good neighbor" who allows that behavior from their dog.

Our animal control is unable to help because we live in the county rural area and they service the town, The spokesperson for the animal control said that if the dog attacks a child or person then the sherrif dept. willl come and put the dog down, I hate to think that it would have to have something like that happen before they would do something. I dont understand what has happened with my neighbors they really are sweet people I know they are animal lovers and we ahve always goten along great, but then the got the Beast. I dont know if they them selves just dont know what to do. I have to admit I would never let my dogs behave that way with out them being restrained in some way.

That is a really sad situation. I hope it can be resolved before someone gets hurt.

I got a call this morning from the farmers about a half mile down the from happys' owners . It seems Happy got hit on the road sometime last night and was laying off to the side in the grass. I went down there and wanted to see if it was him ,it was . He wasn't dead but he was close I picked him up and took him to there house but when I pulled in the drive way I thought the kids would be getting ready for school , I wouldn't want my kids to have seen their dog like that so I took him back down to mine and called them and explained what had happened . by this time about 20 minutes had gone by and Happy was gone. she came down and my husband took her dog and went back to her house and buried him in there yard for her , her husband was at work. It really is sad and I am heart broke for her children ,they will find out when they come home it is a shame he was a good dog for them and the kids loved him I truly wish they would have just kept him tyed up at night. unfortunatley that is the end of my bad dog problem , I really feel sad about this whole thing.

Ohhhhhh... I was so hoping for a happy ending to this. Sorry it had to end this way.

I am so sorry this turned out the way it did. All pet owners, myself included, have a responsibility to take care of our animals. You neighbors don't seem to understand that.
