CLOSED: What is this for a tree bug?

Melbourne, Australia

Location Melbourne

I think the second brown one is the previous skin of the bug, is that right???

Its a type of treehopper or leafhopper.
And yes, it's the skin it previously occupied while in its previous life stage =).
Anodecathode's precious thread has an excellent picture of oak treehopper nymphs and adults together, if you are curious.

I'm not familiar with Australian bugs, so I'm afraid I can't tack a species onto that ;)

That is Stenocotis depressa in the Cicadellidae. I recently found one in Tarra-Bulga National Park and had it identified for me by an expert.
Here is an illustration at his site: http://www1.dpi.nsw.gov.au/keys/leafhop/species/sdepress.htm
and here is our BugDiles page (with a picture of my Tarra-Bulga specimen): http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/6566/

I hope you will add your picture to that page
