Ok Just to let you know that I am moving this weekend to a totally off the grid stick built house.. Since it is solar I decided not to incubate any eggs this year to make sure the electric is something Billy and I can live on.. I got 6 chicks two months ago, they are off the light fully feathered. Then I lost about 8 laying hens and was so regretting my decision not to bater this year....
Well I had forgotten that I had gone in with someone on some chicks and they called yesterday to tell me that they would be in on the 29th....(talk about a brain fog moment) AND they have agreed to keep them until they are feathered out and need no light....

SWEET!

Ok back to the scheduled post...

Thanks, Green for showing the baby pix. I dont know how anyone can NOT fall in love with those biddies.

MsJester, tell us more. What is a stick house. Sounds like you are going totally solar. I would love to hear about your experiences. If not on this thread, just tell us on what forum you will post. Cam

I live where a lot of trailers and modular homes are and a stick built house is one that is built from the ground up. It is a Beautiful house on a cement foundation. It sits on 1.3 acres that is fully fenced in with a 6 ft high chain link. It is 2150 sq foot 3 bedroom 2 bath with a real garage. It is totally solar right now, I need the wind generator and have a lead on a 10,000 watt stand by generator. My neighbor hauls my water for 20 bucks a load, which is 750 gallons. The water tank is 2500 gallons. There is a shed, a solar room and some cement pads for Rv's on it as well. I am leasing it for a year to make sure Billy and I can survive, after that year I will be purchasing it for 30K. It is 11 miles from work, 3 miles on a dirt road. Neighbors are not really close to me, I would say a few acres between us. Billy will have a big room and I will finally have a guest room. My trailer I live in now would fit in the dining room and the kitchen of the new house..

You got a great deal too MsJ. Is that because the housing market is down? I keep looking at trucks and thinking, "I could buy a house for what that truck costs, how ridiculous".

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

There was a huge development that was to go in about 4 miles east of the house which since the housing slump it did not happen. The house was on the market for 60K but again like so many others it went into forclosure. An investment company bought it dirt cheap and a friend of mine who is a real estate agent was handling the investment corp purchase called me. She worked the deal up I clean and fix issues with it and pay NO Security deposit.. SCORE... THe payment is less than my rent on this place and it is a huge stepping up as the house was completed in 2003 and this place I live in now is a 1970 single wide trailer.

I created another topic so I would not hijack this one since its not eggs I am using to barter, its blood sweat and tears..
