How does everyone get so many seeds? I have tried to grow a garden for three years now and only have a few plants. So that means a few seeds. Do you buy seeds to trade? Not many people want the seeds I have to trade, and there aren't alot of people that do SASE. Maybe my want list is unusual.
I just started trading in September, so maybe I am not patient enough.
If anyone out there has lots of extra seeds for SASE please let me know. If you have anything on my list GREAT, if not maybe someone has something that is popular so I can trade for what I want.
Am I being impatient,do you think???

Hi! I don't have as many as some of the people here. A lot of mine were still blooming when we got a heavy frost and some are still not ready. I started trading 3 years ago and only had a couple hollyhock plants, balsam and sunflowers and through the generosity of some very nice people and also purchasing things here and there now have much more than that. You can take a look at my list. I would be more than happy to share. I would love to have some of your hollyhocks if you don't have them promised out. Let me know. Michelle
I started trading last year in 1999. The reason I started trading was because I had just moved into a new house that had lots of nice flowers and landscaping.
I started harvesting the seeds, and offering them up for trade. Luckily, they were unique items that a lot of people wanted. I was wise in my trading, and only traded for the most interesting things.
This year, I have put extra effort into increasing my inventory. One of the ways I did this was I spent a lot of time in my truck driving around town, looking for seeds. I often found interesting varieties that had seed pods ready.
I went to Tennessee on vacation last month. While there, I got around 5 new varieties of seeds (enough for around 5 packets each).
That's my story.
By the way, I see you want Daylilies. I have yellow daylily seeds - would you like to trade for agertum?
Best,
Dave
I started trading this year as well.
We've bought a house with an absolutly bare garden, not a plant in side. I started out with about ten packets of seed I bought from Thompson and Morgan. Most have far more seeds in it than I actually needed, so I traded the surplus. This way I got quite a lot of new seeds. And since a lot of people are very generous and send enough seed to plant the whole village with that particulair type of plant you can trade the surplus of again. In total I bought about twenty packets of seed, but I've got over a hundred different sorts now. Not bad for less then a years trading.
And I saw a lot of posts offering seeds for sase on gardenweb, unfortunatly I can't use sase since I live in the Netherlands.
Hope this will help you a bit.
Agnes
