A couple of years ago, I rented an apartment that had a small garden space in a courtyard patio. I mean it is small. It is less than 3 feet by 8 feet, and the strange concrete bar that separates the garden gives me even less usable space for planting. But I've tried to make the most of it and call it the Little Garden that Could. I've tried to include native Texas wildflowers or plants, where I could. The little garden is full of life - snails, slugs, and earthworms and an occasional toad. Numerous birds visit the garden including: hummingbirds, finches, cardinals, and curved bill thrashers. Unfortunately, I can't seem to attract butterflies. I put in a drip irrigation system in there this year, and I'm right proud of it, so I just thought I'd share my little Texas garden with you.

That looks marvelous my dear!!! More power to you for using native plants.
Josephine.
That looks like a very calming place to be. Looks very nice.
You little garden looks great. If you would like to attract butterflies you need to add a couple of butterfly host plants. Passiflora incarnata and Dill are just a couple I think would look great mixed in there :) Wonderful job!!
Darling!
So peaceful looking! Great job!
way to go ............it looks great!
So charming and intimate. Check out the butterfly forum, they might have suggestions for plants that attract them.

What a sweet garden you have created! I hope you can find some butterfly plants that will fit in.
You are very creative! You took a small space and made a little paradise for yourself. Great job! Janet
Thanks for everyone's kind thoughts. I love to garden, but up until a couple of years ago, could only do container gardening. And there are limitations to it. Although you cannot see it in this photo, I am growing morning glories in a large pot next to the door (which is partially in the picture to the left). Hopefully, in summer, I will have the pleasure of morning glories growing up the trellis and then cascading over the other side of the door; welcoming with their sweet blooms as I walk through the door.
That is beautiful! So very peacefull! Great job!
Jeanne
