I found this butterfly in my garden in Park Orchards, Victoria (about 25km east of Melbourne). It is similar to many skippers which I have seen but the pattern does not match with any of the shown in Braby: The Complete Field Guide to Butterflies of Australia and I cannot find it in Orr & Kitching: The Butterflies of Australia.
Does anyone know what it might be?
Unidentified Skipper Butterfly in Victoria
As you likely already are aware, there are several Australian species that can have this general appearance, so making a determination on the basis of an image alone can be problematic. That aside, have a look at a couple of Ocybadistes species at http://tinyurl.com/4rq698c and http://tinyurl.com/4tvw6yl
