I'm fairly sure this is a moth, but it's a new one to my garden. Eating honeysuckle. The younger ones are almost solid orange.
Thanks for any help!
Emma
Moth ID please
This superficially resembles a caterpillar in the family Arctiidae (tiger moths), but I have never seen another exactly like this one...
I have a book of common moths and butterflies of FL, but this guy isn't in there. I've lived here 3 years, and they suddenly apeared about a week ago for the first time. I think it's time to buy a more comprehensive book :)
In searching for Tiger Moth caterpillar pics, came across http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/moth_caterpillars and http://www.dpughphoto.com/moths.htm, which helped me ID 2 other newbies in the garden: Tussock Moth (not sure which one) and Forest Tent Caterpillar. Still don't have a positive ID on the orange guy though :(
