Found some of these beetles boring holes in a dead Guava stump. DW is worried about them getting in the house, but they seem content with the stump.
On second thought it may not be a beetle.
Thanks

CLOSED: wood boring beetles
This is a carpenter bee (Hymenoptera: Apidae; subfamily Xylocopinae); there are several species of these in Texas. All construct their brood chambers ('nests') in dead wood or hollow stems; some occasionally may damage structures by tunneling in unpainted wood - see http://tinyurl.com/4npq7u9 for detailed information.
Your right. That was some good info.
Thanks so much
