Seven ladies a sitting...

That is how some of my Seramas came up missing till I caught the huge tom cat coming back for more, and he got the mom and babiez.. :(

OH NO!!! Sounds like Old Tom needs to join up with the Pound Puppy Gang!!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

That was a long time ago.. I can't let any babiez out unattended anymore. Lesson learned.. :(

we had over a dozen babies out last year & never lost a one. Who knows.. i figure it goes with letting mom raise it basically. DH is more upset than i am. But i'm looking at a good... 30 some eggs left to hatch... who knows if they will... i keep checking... but not sure when they are due.. i think starting this weekend.. but i could be off a week.

only cat problem i have is Boba.. our pregnant confined to our bedroom cat/kitten.. barely 8 months old & very very very pregnant. Vet kept cancelling due to bad weather to have her fixed, she slipped out the door one night & oops... we've got babies on the way. She's due starting tomorrow thru the 15th. Hopefully she doesn't have them in the middle of our bed. She has a thing for flannel sheets... refuses to let us put the comforter on.. she moves it to get to the sheets. She looks like she swallowed a watermelon & you can see & feel the kittens when they move. She's starving bc of the kittens... she's got food in front of her constantly but she can hear the chicks making noice thru the screen door.. and has been climbing it trying to get to them.... or rather to the kitchen to look for left over scraps on the counter. she's a little piggy.

spring is definitely here!

I'd love to see the videos Grey! Can you post a link to them? I'm glad you were able to do some corrective work on those babiez.. Amazing how they figure out how to walk when they look so hopeless huh?

I uploaded mine on youtube and then gave a link.

not sure i want to put them on youtube... i might upload them to FB tho... unfortunately not everyone will be able to see them. I went down to check on the other eggs this morning & behold.. a baby chick. had to go to work at the other site to day... got home.. went to check & another baby chick.. no one would claim it & it was running around the coop alone. I scooped it up & brought it in the house with the others. Got the bator ready.. the batch the chick came out of .... pretty sure there are about 20 to 25 eggs there.. and i bet anything the mommy gets up after tomorrow & takes her one lone chick out for a stroll.. leaving the eggs. We'll stick close & be prepared to toss em in the bator.

What an adventure.

Good luck greykyttn! Sounds like we are having the same problem, waiting on broody Chicopea to hatch these babies and the brooder ready for the early arrivals!

We ended up with 3 out of 5. One egg was bad and the other was mostly developed but it was dented so I guess it got stepped on. It was a black chick. Ended up with 2 white and 1 black.

Yay, you have babies, CajuninKy!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

They are cute but Saphire doesn't want them out of her sight.

well Esme did just what I thought... hopped right off the eggs & took her single baby out to play today. Right when we let them out of the coop this morning. So we grabbed 26 eggs & tossed them (gently) into the incubator. We'll see what happens. 1 was wiggling be4 we put it in the bator.. egg would wobble side to side... so at least 1 was alive still.

Good luck with them.

Love the pictures of the babies Cajun. Grey, am excited for you. That reminds me I should take my hen or hens out to the roosters. Thanks Z for telling me they'd be fine after a few days. I won't look and feel sorry for them I guess. I do want some babies and my whites are still not cooperating.
