This looks more like an immature member of the genus Argiope (family Araneidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/46h6ush for an example.
Yes this picture look like it. What would me the "normal" name???
The name of the family to which the genus Argiope belongs is Araneidae, known simply as orb weaving spiders. There are several different species in that genus in Australia that go by a variety of common names.
