I think I was expecting something on the order of what you're talking about, or at least made of some permeable material, but this is what I got. it's thin shiny plastic. That I don't mind- weighs nothing and I have a lot of tomatoes-- but I'm not sure about the holes. I thought someone had posted that they were using them and like them, so I ordered them.
THanks, Pam
Hi, Im new at this.
Welcome, Pam. Sorry I'm so late in welcoming you but someone has to be last and it might as well be another Long Islander.
Haven't tried the bags, sorry. Let us know how they work out for you and maybe you'll have a few converts to them.
Hi Pam - crazy cat lady here. MOL! (meow out loud)
Hi-- Maybe I'll try lining the bottom with a paper towel- cheap enough, allows some drainage and probably not too much of a problem when I go to plant. Tomatoes aren't fussy about a little root disturbance...or a little too much water...
I wonder if Cliff will show up again. I guess I've really highjacked his thread...
Sorry Cliff. But glad I've gotten to meet you all!
Pam
hhmm never saw that kind of bag before... looks kind of small... guess only one plant will go in there
I'm glad to have another gardener in Litchfield County....although it's zone 5, there are challenges here......
Challenges...
Like a BEAR ???
Yikes!
Tee hee...there better not be a bear!
Robindog, we are pretty close neighbors. As I learn more about the differences between here and sandy LI, your experience will be a huge help, I'm sure. Then there are all the microclimates. Zone 5 with a few twists? I'm a long way from figuring it all out. But it is a fascinating quest...
Had "bears" on the mind....Knucklehead, the wandering bear in the area, is out of hibernation & after birdfeeders already.....I'm hoping he skips my yard this Spring! Yes, Pam, figuring out what can grow where is challenging.....I'm still learning!
Hi Pam. 'nuther Litchfield county gardener here. . . WELCOME!
g'mornin' Robindog.
Ceil
Thanks, play...
I've been told no bird feeders because of bears. There seems to be enough around the place to keep them coming even so, and I try to plant more. We're not there in the winter anyway so it shouldn't make much difference if we feed them or not during the summer. At least I hope not...
Thanks, Ceil...

Hi Ceil! Welcome.
Maybe we need a Litchfield thread!!
That would be nice! Yes, Ceil, I'm glad you post as well, since Harwinton is just up the road from me.....
Hi Pam and Ceil and Cliff! Don't be fooled by my South Florida address.....I'll be heading back up to NH within a month and I lived in Connecticut for 23 years, so Pam and Ceil are former neighbors.....sort of! Anyhooooo, welcome to you all. It's great to have you with us! This is indeed a great group of welcoming and knowledgeable gardeners. No one is an outsider here! (Even Floridians..... :) )
Louise
