How to find plants native to my area?

I am searching for some kind of vine or climber that I can plant in front of my house, and I am considering using plants only native to my area. But, how do I find out what plants are native? Where would you turn? Who can I ask?

One source would be your local chapter of the California Native Plant Society. There are also nurseries in the SF Bay Area which are well known for growing native plants.
