Try www.mellingers.com? $6.50. I got some good strong jasmine from them. I would buy there but I need a large one.
dwarf lemon or orange trees??
Logees Greenhouse has citrus trees. The Meyers is $8.25 and they have a variegated Calamondin orange for $12.00. Several others also listed.
Snowhermit, read up a few lines ,some were not happy with logees

My apologies if I have stalled anyone's purchase.

Today I picked up another Calomindon Orange tree. It has some good sized fruits on it that are now turning orangish. They had one that dropped most of its leaves and they gave me that one free with the one I paid for. I get that lil leafless one to come back to life. I hope to get seeds from this plant to sow. My other citrus plants are growing like crazy.
I'm hoping to graft cuttings of all my other citrus onto Calomindon root stock. In the meantime I keep sowing lots of citrus seeds and have added tangerines and clementines to my collection. I now have 32 plants ranging from 3 years to 2 week seedlings.
Oh Snowhermit,
I would love the variegated calamondin orange. That one sounds really neat. I'm going to call them to see if I can get one shipped in the spring.
Cala,
The variegated lemon sounds really nice too. I found a website today for training citrus into bonsai. I might try this on my 2 year old seedlings this year.
Now I will have to add the variegated citrus to my list of plants to add to my collection. I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for pink lemons this year at the grocery stores.
Edited this post to add that citrus cuttings can be propagated from new growth very easily. Best rooted in sand with the use of bottom heat and they will root within 4-6 weeks. Hope this helps Cala.

Joydie, I'm waiting on that new growth!! Every branch has blooms right now, don't want to cut the flowers off, since they smell good, plus I read somewhere that flowers are good for the beneficials.
Cala,
I love the smell of the blossoms. Right now my kitchen smells wonderful as there are so many flowers in bloom on the Calamondins right now.
I hope you can get cuttings rooted of the variegated varieties when the time comes. I have confidence in you!!
Has anyone had any luck get the Blood Orange to sprout or taken cuttings that rooted?
Crestedchick, Is your grapefruit the pink variety? Mine are and they are now 3 years old.
I read at the website that all citrus require very hot temperatures, lots of fertilizer and water in order for the fruit to be sweet (unless its lemons or limes or the bitter orange calamondin).

I have no idea,it gets grapefruits on it every year, they get pingpong ball size,by that time its time to move the plants in the house for the winter, and every time, they all fall off. This year, with a greenhouse, I'm hoping to avoid the problem........
CC, I think that will work for you. My lemons didn't fall off when I brought them into the green house. I have little limes forming now on a Key lime!! They are so cute and tiny.
Calla, did the fruit on the variegated one stay striped?I saw one on "Martha Stewart",and hers was striped!
CC,
I found that I have to bring mine in by the end of August to avoid this problem. Citrus do not do well with drastic changes in temperature. I did a lot of reading about citrus leaf drop and things like that. Once you bring them indoors you still have to keep them really well watered. I keep mine in clay pots as its easier to see when the soil gets dry and then its time to water again.
I have a 2 inch diameter calamondin almost ripe now. I'm going to let is stay on the tree until it falls off and then plant the seeds. There are lots of other fruits on the plant too and its sending out lots of new flower buds. One thing I also read is that you can encourage larger fruits by pinching some flower buds off.
Joydie
CC, yes, it's still variegated/striped. It's very large, how do I tell when it's ripe?
I don't know,Marthas looked just like the picture of yours, and it had large striped fruit but she never said how to tell its ripe.I wonder if its striped inside?
Cala,
You can leave the fruit on the tree until it falls off naturally. I bet the Key Lime is very pretty. Take pictures of the variegated ones and the Key Lime and post them or can you do that on this forum?
I'm now hooked on photos not phonics...LOL
Joydie
Joydie, there is a picture of the variegated on on the photo page I think. It was from weeks ago ,I'll see if I can find the link. Its so neat lookin... Found it! http://davesgarden.com/showthread/170977.html

CC,
I went to Logee's online catalogue. Unfortunately I emailed them a good while back and you have to order $200 (U.S.) that's about $300 in Canadian funds, plus the phyto certicate and shipping. I want one of everything they have especially that fingerlike variety!! Anyone want to do a group order? Let me know who to send the funds too!!!
