About all that I can say is that this scarab beetle might be in the subfamily Cetoniinae, but I have never seen one with such bristly vestiture. If you want to give it a name, I would suggest Hermione...

After a lot of head-scratching, I believe that I can offer a bit more info on this one. I was wrong on my initial thoughts about its subfamily; it is the Rutilinae rather than Cetoniinae. More specifically, it belongs to the tribe Hopliini, in a grouping collectively known as 'monkey beetles' which frequently are found on flowers. They are endemic primarily to South Africa, and are pollen feeders that appear to be important pollinators fro some plant species..
