Does anyone know anything about any Magnolia Tree's from Klehm's Song Sparrow? They have a yellow Magnolia I'd like to get.
Magnolia Tree
Good and reputable source, but you can probably find larger plants at better prices locally at a good nursery or garden center, perhaps from a good landscaper. By the time you pay shipping, even a smaller tree is expensive from mail-order. Good yellow cultivars include 'Elizabeth', 'Gold Crown', and especially 'Butterflies'.
Thanks Hoosier, I can't find a yellow Magnolia tree here. The only kind they have here are Jane - Ann - Star Magnolia I have 2 Jane's and 1 Ann. The price for a decent tree is very expensive. I Think I like the look of 'Butterflies'.
'Butterflies' is my favorite yellow cultivar, although the blooms are a little smaller, the color is more intense. All of the yellow cultivars are going to be more pricey though, but worth it! You might be able to find some for sale at a nursery nearer Cincinnatti. If you have a nursery or large garden center in Dayton, they should be able to special order one for you, but as them ASAP so they can get it added to their spring shipping orders which will be coming in soon. Good luck.
Thanks Hoosier
Does anyone know anything about Willis Orchard? I can't make up my mind on whether to buy a Magnolia Tree of a Crabapple.

I would proceed with caution: http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/6348/
Forest Farm has a very good rating & offers a good variety of crabapples (and may even have the magnolia). Their prices are usually good, although depending on your location shipping can be quite pricey for larger, potted plants. If they are offering the item you want bare root, shipping is much less.
I think this is the same crabapple: http://www.forestfarm.com/product.php?id=4962
I just checked and they have a number of yellow magnolias. Don't know if they fit your price range esp when shipping is added, but I've ordered from them and have always been very happy with their products.
