angry over a mg pic i dont know

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

I wont mention names or anything but someone posted a pic on a cubits somewhere else. I never saw a plant like that and still really dont know what it is. so i asked a question trying to get a species or something on which mg it was as i have never seen a hairy mg.

http://davesgarden.com/community/trading/image.php?user=MGJapan&pid=119382

when i calm down i guess with Dee Back I will ask him what the name and species of this is. Someone said it was a drawf. well i dont know what that is except to me it means a small mg. but what mg has hairs?

but someone told me asking my question was redundant. to me no question is ever unnecessary when trying to learn, so now i wrote and said so and will probably lose that cubit but i was hurt and angry. gotta get my girl to school and go cool off.

Hey imzadi,

I got seeds for the plant pictured but did not have luck growing it. It was suppose to be a cactus like morning glory. The seeds came from a Japanese WEB SITE that I sometimes purchased from. I think I may still have a few seeds but will have to check.
Not sure what they called it but I'll check that too.

I'm at work but will check in here from time to time.

Thanks Dee someone had asked about it and I have never seen one like it before. It would of been cool if it had survived to see more of it.

Marie, sometimes when you have a high powered lens on a camera, you can see all the small hairs on the leaves and it does make it look hairy. But with the naked eye, it doesn't look hairy. I hope that helps..

well the latest person to be booted off a cubit is me.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

really? getting booted off cubits because you asked a question? or is it a certain cubit. I was once on an unfriendly MG cubits but removed myself from it. who needs that in your life.

(Zone 7a)

Rie, I'm sorry you were subjected to that. I think the world is a far, kinder, gentler - and more honest - place outside the cubit that shall remain nameless. My crime, when I left, was to give them the courtesy of letting them know I was leaving and why. Incredible, truth twisting abuse followed. If a group does not allow compassion, honesty and learning for the sake of learning on every level, why stay?

Rie, you're certainly not alone, if it's any consolation. Hope this helps.

Marie - Welcome to the club of the banned and booted from a particular online forum! LOL! I consider it a compliment and a blessing ... not to be associated with the person(s) being so nasty. Just ignore them. That's what I do. Life is good and way too short to be associating with such folks! :-)

Mesilla Park, NM

Well, I've never joined that other mg forum.

Hey I don't know anything about that site but it sounds terrible :(
I'm glad to have friends here and I will not be going to any other gardening site.

(Zone 7a)

MGJapan, welcome back and to all - {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} that have been subjected to such senseless, cruel rants.

Dany - LOL! We are all much more special to be here on this forum instead of there on that particular forum. I like having freedom of choice! :-)

Karen - Yup! We all learned the hard way on that issue. I am very happy and thank all my online friends here who are kind, generous, and honest. Thanks to each and every one of you!!! It's an honor to correspond with this group of nice folks!

Now friends ... hoping Spring arrives pronto for all of us so we can get this show on the road and start seeing everyone's MGs and share our experiences and knowledge. Let the snow melt, the sun to come out and stay out, and may the temps rise to inspire all your garden plants to grow and bloom their little buds off! :-) I'm rolling out the red carpet for mine. Well ... actually starting the hardening off process to get those bad boys outside! :-)

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Dany, exactly my thought. Glad to know I wasn't the only one they snubbed.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Simply no excuse for treating people like that. I won't be going there
either. Staying right here where I feel like I'm among friends, like minded folks who share my love of MG's. :-)

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

I'm with y'all and simply fail to understand why these people behave the way they do! Takes all sorts I suppose.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

Un fortunatly I had to involve Dave to even get my pictures down. It was awful. The way I got treated especially after almost 8 years of knowing R. I am sorry to say that it ended like it did but oh well.

I am just hoping the stuff will stop and let me try to get my life straight without all the mess.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Marie - I am sorry to hear how much this has upset you. Many of us have been through it too. We felt manipulated and used. This is not a flattering view of certain people. I know that you will move forward like all of us have and continue to enjoy growing your MGs and posting here on the MG Forum! :-)

Houston, TX

Thanks bluespiral, I really do feel at home here. Imzadi don't worry... here you're among friends. I'll be sending you and a few others some seeds. I just got to go thru this stuff and see what I have. true that :) This is not all my seeds, I have another box that I'm looking for.

wow is all i can say

I know I have wonderful friends here. That's why I wasn't gonna choose anyone over anyone else.

Houston, TX

I checked out cubits and after seeing who was involved I now understand :( I see why the atmosphere around here has calm down. I'm happy to be part of this community and plan to be an active contributor..

There are a lot of knowledgeable good people here still and there's no secret to getting morning glory seeds from Japan. Some people like to exaggerate but the truth be known if there's a will there's a way. I find the whole situation amusing. Like they say birds of a feather flock together. We can do the same things that's drawing attention to Japan right here.

Be happy guys and use this site for what its for. Share, learn and post your pictures and comments. This forum can be just as vibrant and more. true that :) There's no secret to growing morning glory, you all have done that. We as gardeners get knowledge from each other and from places around the world plus from hands on experience. Lets have a great growing season and have fun doing it. Glad to be here.

Dee

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

Dee, well said and welcome back. What made you return to the US after 20 years? I've done a mere five years but nothing would drag me back to the UK LOL! If memory serves me I seem to think you were living in Nagoya.
Birds of a feather is a nice analogy! Amusing YES!!

Marie - Ditto on that! And you, too, Dee and Jon!

I have to chuckle. I've been getting a lot of emails recently asking what the heck is going on! Seems to be generating some publicity for all of us and the MG Forum. :-) I wouldn't be surprised to see more folks joining us here or returning. :-) This is a friendly place to be!

Susan - LOL! I think "wrecking crew" means that we wrecked "their" plans. LOL! I am sure that myself and many others are on that list and that list is growing! It's ridiculous! But I do get a good chuckle out of it all. And I am SURE that they are reading this thread! :-D It's good to have a sense of humor about such things!

My attitude is to just ignore them. I've got better things to do with my time. :-) Like start some new MG seeds! Hee, hee! :-)

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" (Matthew 6:13a).

Guys I like the fact that here at the morning glory forum we can agree and disagree in a mature way without being evil or wicked. Please don't embrace evil and we all know the difference because we're mature adults.

It's OK to be wrong and I don't know anyone who's perfect. We won't attack anyone here for asking any questions. Life is too short so let's enjoy our time.

I have confidence in all of you to stay positive and continue to move forward in your developement and rewards from growing morning glory. There's a lot of information available in many of the old threads and together will will grow and have fun doing it.

As promise I will be mailing out samples and will let you guys know when to d-mail me your mailing address. In the spirit of happy exchange.

How many years do you think MG seeds are good for.
With most seeds the %germination will probably drop off the third year in storage?
I have lots of seed from 2009.

Hi John! I think that they WILL indeed last quite a long time. Sort of like Lotus seeds. If properly stored, should last many years! :-)

Mesilla Park, NM

I have several seeds from 2002 through present. Some of the ones I sent Mittsy are from some of those older seeds I've got and she has had germination so far, I'm sure it is how they are stored.

Either way, I love trying to get them to germinate.

Marie, Eventually everyone will get tired of being bullied around and walking the line that they are told to do on that cubit.

Or worse... not follow through on his end of a seed trade. Twice! I know ... I must be a little too trusting. Live and learn. Not all folks are good traders.

Yep Gourd that has happened. I am not returning something that was sent to me. I didn't sign any contract about them being on loan. Gracious If you don't want to share why send them in the first place? You can't even find his cubit anymore. Its hidden or something.

Thanks for the answers on seed Viability.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Makes me glad I never got the seeds that were promised to me! LOL! But a trade is a trade. This nonsense about returning seeds is too funny!

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

It is.
