BULBS - 2011 - WHOSE IN?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

That is an amazing size bulb there Jon!!

I just started in on getting pink and white daffs and so there are not too many of them so CEM, most of my colors are yellow or white with yellow or the peacocks... dont have any blooming but will show here was some of the memories of seasons gone by....

I cant grow tulips here because we flood but the daffs dont seem to mind.. so I am a wayward home for unwanted dafs as I also have a small area that I am naturalizing. I will take in all I can get of any color!

Here is my calla whe I first got it.. back in 2009! This year it looks nice so far, but last year it did not bloom.

That's a nice Calla Lily Blossom. I have had the same experiences with the shorter Calla Lilies when I buy bulbs. They bloom great year one and some of them return year two, but don't think I've seen a year two bloom. Some of them are now year three. The "Giant White" Calla Lily has been great. It's evergreen year round and is now blooming in year two.

Well, if it does bloom this year, its year three in the pot. Ive never refreshed or divided them was hopiong they woud get pot bound first. I had a small peace lily that I was hoping it woudl do good but I proceded to send it to the next world within 6 month of acquiring it.

Hoping year three is the magic year with these short Callas. The bulbs are pricey so its disappointing to only get one year of blooming.

That's a beautiful calla BLOSSOMBUDDY.

Thanks, I hope 3years is its lucky number! Time will tell... heres the bloomer close up! Right now its looking good. I hope the thinggoes pot bound so I could divide it one year. That would be nice.

Oh Jon, you will besooo toast if you go there and see the black callas!

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL Blossom. While you were typing this link I was typing about them in the other forum. Oh yes....I'm well aware of the black ones. If the memory is correct I the dark ones I bought last year are "Cantor" and "Captain Maori"

Well, Id take one of everythign, but.. you know me, space is getting to be an issue.. I dont think I canleave these outdoors inthe ground..my garnet glow is in the same pot it came in 3 years ago.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

No, you sure can't leave them outdoors up there. You would think your 3 old old Calla would be better developed by now. How many more years you gonna give it to produce for you?

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Till death do us part! Maybe next time it dies back I will pull it form its pot and see if I can divide it then...remind me....

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL. Ok, let me write it down

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

write what down?

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

I have to write in down to remind you to divide that Calla the next time it dies back.
