Spider found in bananas.. maybe a small hunstman?

England, United Kingdom

Hi All,

I am in the UK but I have posted on a few forums over here and nobody has answered! My wife found this spider looking at her through the bananas that she purchased from the supermarket! She hates spiders and has a massive phobia so when she spotted this looking at her she went a bit into shock!

Upon first inspection it looked like the spider has backed itself into the bananas, I decided to blow some air on it to see if it was still alive and it moved back into the bunch of bananas.. at that point I almost crapped myself as I thought it may be a venomous spider. I managed to get a plastic bucket over the fruit bowl and then when I eventually managed to get some courage and give it a prod its legs fell off.. and i was slightly releived to discover it was dead! I have had a look on a few sites and I think it might be a small huntsman spider.. but could be wrong.. any help with this would be great..

Many thanks in advance

Mike

P.S if this photo is not good enough I still have spidey (locked away in a box in the garage (as instructed by the wife)) so I can take more pics.

A photo that focuses clearly on the spider's eyes may help. This might either be a huntsman (family Sparassidae) or wandering (family Ctenidae) spider.
