This one was a refugee from an area that I was weeding. I do not know what specific plant he had been feeding on. In this photo he had climbed into this broad-leafed plantain but had not started eating.

I cannot be certain, but this might be a noctuid in the genus Achatia - see http://tinyurl.com/4vwv2c8 for an example.
