Our ridiculously snowy winter has finally relented for a few days of welcome warm weather.
So this house-bound winter-weary gardener checked out the landscape for signs of better days to come.
The good news is there actually are signs that spring may be planning to make an appearance after all.
Here are the swelling buds of a witch hazel.
Spring is on the way
Yes, I have enjoyed the warmer weather too. We cleaned out flower beds yesterday and planted lettuce, spinach and cilantro.
From now on, things will become more hectic. We also pruned some of our shrubs that require pruning.
Wee, I also took a little foray into the gardens Tuesday and saw that the Siberian Iris and Daylilies are popping up, the Monarda, Coreopsis and Veronica still have green growth on them! All the snow along with the leaves I didn't get picked up last fall made for a fine insulator.

What a difference 48hrs makes.
Here's the same witch hazel as in the first post- now in full bloom
Unfortunately, still too muddy to get close enough for a good pix.
I thought my image stabilizer was supposed to fix everything! ... I guess not.
Winter is now officially over, now that the spring sequence is underway.
Good riddance to a nasty winter!
