My husband's man cave/shed is a 8x16 silver tarp covered frame he bought at Harbor Freight. Not the best looking thing and high winds can wreak havoc on it.
So, we decided to have the cross vine that's growing over the fence next to the shed grow over it also. The theory is that the vine will grow over it, helping to protect it and definitely improve it's look.
So far I've set some bamboo poles between the fence and shed. Next I'll put more poles on the other side and tie them over the top. Then lay plastic fencing over the poles and lay the vine over that. It should grow over the top in a few years. I hope it works!
Here's a picture of what I've done so far.

My newest project
Good idea, Barb - truly organic architecture! I bought a cheap aluminum arbor last year, and I'm hiding it under a mix of smilax and evergreen wisteria (which wasn't evergreen in my backyard this winter). Vines are nature's woven rope - strong, durable - perfect for the man cave.
Thanks Donna!
Theoretically it will be a gorgeous covering that will also help protect the cave from storms.
We'll see...

What an interesting project! Hope it works out.

Very clever, keep us posted on the progress.
Today I worked on getting the rest of the bamboo poles set. I got most done, but will need my husbands help with some. i did get one end done, so laid the plastic fencing over that end and working the vine through it. I'm pretty happy with the result, but need to trim the poles some. They're too thick and aren't bending as much as I'd like.
It was a bit of a pain the the a**; but hopefully will be worth it!

This picture is a bit brighter and shows the Rubbermaid shed next to the storage shed. The vine has more than covered the first and will hopefully cover the storage shed than fully.
lol...must be the lime in it
Absolutely!
