Wonderful Osprey shots Linth! Love it when you do those combo's.
"On the Waterfront" - Vol. #8
Here are a few recent photos taken in marsh and/or wetland habitat. Despite the presence of numerous Osprey nests around, I have not visited them recently. However, at the one location that I visit, I have to walk right past the nest. I usually walk quite rapidly since she will always leave the nest. She has not laid any eggs the last two years despite being on the nest. Maybe this year ? Here she is coming in for a landing .......
Several weeks ago, I visited Bombay Hook near Smyrna, Delaware. It's my kind of place since they have several miles of dirt roads with good habitat on both sides of the road. When one sees something, they can just stop, get out, and set up their tripod. Others shoot directly from the window. On this occasion, as I was driving around, I noticed a number of white "spots" off in the distance. I just assumed that the Snowy Egrets perhaps have arrived. Much to my surprise, it was a large flock of Black-crowned Night Herons. It was in excess of 20. Here is one photo which shows a bunch of them.
I don't usually use a teleconverter lens but in this case I thought, why not. I took enough photos at 500mm so I decided to shoot at 700mm. I think I stood there for at least one hour just shooting away. It's a shame they weren't a little closer. I was just hoping to see one but to see this many for an hour, made my day. I came by the second time, a little bit later, and not one was in sight.
'common yellowthroats' are uncommon for me.
Great shots Linth!
Gorgeous, as always, Linth. Love that little Tree Swallow sitting in the tree hollow. That is a superb shot of the Red-tailed Hawk and of course, I love the Osprey. I really enjoy the accompanying commentary as well.
Beautiful photos-all of them Linth! Sure if nice to see such a great variety.
