Hello All,

My husband and I have been finding one or 2 of these everyday in the house for the past several weeks. We are like...What the????
We never had an infestation of any bug before...just getting a tad worried. Here's a pic of one of them...

This is a crane fly (Diptera: Tipulidae) - see http://tinyurl.com/4zu4y78 for a similar example. Although they resemble giant mosquitoes, they don't bite and are completely harmless. Their larvae usually are aquatic or found in very moist soil; a few species, called leatherjackets, can be turf pests.

Thank you so much suunto!!!! :)
Glad to hear they don't bite and they aren't mosquitos on steroids...HA!
The larvae are probably just starting to hatch from a few plants in pots we over-wintered we have been keeping in the kitchen...

Have a great evening,
Susan
