Hi all,
Is anyone able to ID this spider /arachnid? It uses the two little front legs to 'tap' around prior to walking. Found on the east coast of australia. The body is about 7 cm long.
Many thanks,
Amy

This male spider (the 'little front legs' actually are its pedipalps, mouthparts modified for transfer of sperm to the female spider) appears to be a net-casting spider (family Deinopidae) in the genus Deinopis - see http://tinyurl.com/4hz7xvr for detailed information on these fascinating arachnids.
