I looked at the guides here on DG, and I think I have narrowed this fellow down to one of the blue flea beetles. They were found in groups at summer's end in my portulaca flower bed. They seemed to like moist, spent flower heads. Can you help? Thanks so much.
I'd like to know if this is a blue flea beetle
This is indeed a flea beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae; subfamily Galerucinae, tribe Alticini), and it is blue, but there are quite a few species that can have this general appearance (see http://tinyurl.com/4aepoo3 for an example in the genus Altica) and I cannot put a specific name on this one.
