i found this bug in my pool today and i am not too sure what it is, can anybody please tell me? it would be really helpful :)
i think it might be a wasp that has lost its colouring but like i said i am not too sure
can anybody tell me what type of bug this is?
This insect has indeed lost a lot of its colouration, but it is not a wasp. It appears to be a male leaf-rolling cricket (Orthoptera: Gryllacrididae) in the genus Nunkeria - see http://tinyurl.com/4pns5l6 for an image.
thank you heaps!
You're welcome - one of these crickets, known as the spider-face leaf-rolling cricket, does an good job of mimicking a huntsman spider; it has black marks on the front of its head that resemble the chelicerae of the spider.
