We came from here:

And we haven't finished all our unfinished projects yet, so we can keep discussing them here. Anyone can join in. Just tell us what projects you have to do and let us know your progress. And of course, suggestions are always welcome here. Maybe you know a better way to do something or have some motivational words of advice to get us in gear. Some of these unfinished projects could fall on our heads and hurt us!

Sharon, you're doing great in the garden. Most of us are still stuck inside trying to finish our indoor projects. The story of your neighbor stopping by, finally, after years of living in your neighborhood, reminds me of a scene in the movie, "Under the Tuscan Sun." Remember how at the beginning of the movie, the old man who walked by her place daily wouldn't wave or say hi. And then by the end of the movie, he finally tipped his hat and she was so ecstatic that he finally acknowledged her.

I have a neighbor who never said anything nice to me. We've never hung out, altho we're both English majors and we both walk our dogs 3 miles daily for exercise. I've invited her to garden parties (via her husband) and she never acknowledged an invitation. The only time she ever said anything to me was if my dog ventured into her yard to visit her dog (The two dogs are in love). She'd be furious, altho her dogs ventured into my gardens often.

One day she was mowing her vacant lot across from my house in July and it was sooooo hot. I thought, ok, I'm going to make her warm up to me! So I took her a large glass of ice water. She was so relieved (and so was I when she didn't throw it in my face!) and she turned off the mower and came to stand at the edge of my gardens. She was totally enthralled with one ordinary plant. Now my entire yard is a botanical garden--filled with unusual, large, exotic, bodacious plants that I've travelled the South to acquire and paid good money for and pampered and tended. And out of all my plants, her favorite is a Mammoth sunflower a bird planted! A seed from birdfeed is her favorite!! LOL Since that day, however, she does wave at me when she sees me. Once in a while, she'll compliment my gardens or my progress. And each summer, I cut my herbs and leave bags of herbs and veggies at the end of the driveway for her to pick up after her walks. She's lived here almost as long as I have and we still haven't had a real conversation. Strange!
