CLOSED: Parasites emerging from chrysalis

Severna Park, MD(Zone 7a)

The chrysalis is from the Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) and was located on a parsley plant (Petroselinium crispum) which is one of their normal host plants. The small parasitic wasps(?) are the creatures that I seek to identify. I will attach a second photo in the form of a reply to this thread. I assume that at the point of their emergence the chrysalis is merely a hollowed out mummy? No further signs of life occurred for the remainder of the season.

This second photo allows for more complete images of the parasites that will hopefully help in the identification.

Thanks,

These parasitic wasps likely are in the family Pteromalidae - see http://tinyurl.com/4vup3tm for an example. Unlike the braconids that parasitize hornworm larvae, these wasps pupate inside their host and then chew their way out. Your chrysalis is indeed a goner.
