Found it outside in Melbourne. It was around 5 cm big.

CLOSED: What kind of bug is this?
This is a short-snouted/broad-nosed weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae; subfamily Entiminae) - see http://tinyurl.com/48n2h7j for an example. Members of this subfamily tend to be root feeders as larvae and leaf feeders (usually 'notching' leaf margins) as adults.
