Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Why are you not driving a school bus this morning?

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Schools is closed due to icy weather..I don't have any here hanging anywhere but my friend who lives in Dayton(20 mins west from me has icicles hanging off her trees and house.. No ice on my driveway or cars..My temps haven't gone down pass 31 degrees yet..right now it is 33.1 and holding. On the highway out front of my house, not too much traffic going by. No trains gone by either..been kinda quiet this morning..except Pepper barking to let me know something in the bator chirping its lungs off..lol...I pick her up to see thru the window on my bator and she gets all excited..lol..she watches over my babies for me..let me know when they are hatching or chirping so loud since I cannot hear them in the bator.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Whoooo Hoooo! Not scantily clad, but cheering for sure! Can't wait for pictures! Boo Boo Babiez.. :)

Richmond, TX

We have ice here. The whole freeway system is closed down. When you consider what is going on in the north, our highway maintenance crews look like real clowns!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

LOL..I hear ya..My son is in Maryland and keeping up with the weather reports here to keep an eye on us..I told him, we are nice n warm and I am watching baby chicks hatching..he said..WHAT!!!..lol..and his dad was watching TV..
he said..Good Lord..MOM!!!..he says: BUT!!!BUT!!! BUT!!! it is cold outside!! told him ..they are still in the bator...dummy..he says: WHEW!!..didn't want any frozen babies..He has a soft heart for animals just like me..lol.. I told him that the brooder tub is ready for them and they are going in YOUR room for the time being..hahahaha..didn't hear too much after that..he says: ok..just as long they are warm and got cute fuzzy butts!...lol..He says: send me pics..told him I will soon as I can get them in the brooder tub..lol..Just about got that boy change from high modern class to being a country modern boy..lol...He in the US Army stationed in Baltimore, Maryland.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

happy more have hatched. I really hate when ending up with single hatch because you hand raise it and become very, very attatched and just totally rips your heart out if something happens to it

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I hear ya, Donna.. I am up to 5 oliver eggers and 1 Orp..I see more pipping but will see who pops out..Pepper,mini pin keeps checking on them all the time..barks if something is wrong..lol..

Richmond, TX

So far so good...

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Well I have 9 hatched..4 orps and 5 olive eggers..lol..more are pipping..

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Super cool.. keep em comin! Pop OUT LIL BABIEZ!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

LOL..2 more in bator ..Orp or cochins have to check the markings on the eggs

(Zone 5b)

I was wondering how you kept them all straight with so many breeds in the bator. How exciting!!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I divided my bator into 4 sections using cardboard. Orps,Cochins, olive egger and my friends eggs..hers were mixed together. Then they started hatching I knew exactly what breed the chicks would be. None couldn't climb over cuz I made it high enough.
These babies in the pic are mine. My friend who live on the other side of my land came and got her babies last nite. She brought a box and I put a warm towel in it and put her 9 babies that hatched inside the towel to keep them warm for a 5 min ride home..lol...some of her eggs didn't hatch. But she was happy. There are still 5 eggs in the bator as of this morning. Will keep eye on those until tonite.

Here is the pic of my 9 Boo Boo Babiez so far.

Sounds like a really good hatch, congratulations!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Since I have your Blue Cochin cock and your Black and Silver laced hens, what Cochins are you hatching? Your Black hen is setting on a nest of eggs but it has really been cold so I'm not sure of how good a hatch we are going to have. It was 17 here this morning but the sun is shinning and warming up fast. We have been below freezing for four days now and I have not even opened the hoophouse door. I will check on things today when it warms up.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I have the blue cochin hen here..lol...

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Another olive egger just busted out of its shell..lol..makes that 10 now..

(Zone 5b)

Congrats on your hatch! You are making my Chick Fever go into Over Drive LOL.

Darling babies!!!!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

LOL..well in few more weeks..I will be getting more hatching eggs from a friend..mmm..

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

1 of the babies just keep chirping its head off..it is under a warm towel now and still chirp every now n then..LOUD..little booger..

(Zone 5b)

What kind of eggs are your incubating next? Sooo jealous.... LOL

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

She has Marans and cochins. But not mixed together in one pen..lol..

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

If she has Cochins that are not from the same stock as yours, I would like a few of hers. I should have some hatch before then and can give her some of your line. Do Marans go broody? I had some Maraconnas that would, also some Cochacannas. I need some parts for my Brinsea 40S to fix their turners before peafowl season starts. They have been the best for hatching peafowl eggs I have found. I have a large cabinet incubator that will hold around 180 chicken eggs that does very well and I have a very large cabinet that I built myself that will hold over 1,000. I use this one as a hatcher because it has eight trays and I can put eggs from different pens in different trays to keep the separated.

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

Kenboy, No,it is not the same person I got them from the last time..I am hoping to get some golden lace cochins eggs from her..I am not sure what color her marans are..lol..she said she has 4 diff colors..
What parts you need for your Brinsea 40S you need?

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

One needs an arm and the other needs a gear.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

yeah great hatch Nadine

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Love the baby pictures! Boo Boo Babiez!!!!

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)
