Hey CountryGardens, it's nice having a little company to share in that winter blast huh...LOL...And I thought -4 was so bad when we had it here this winter...But you folks are used to it...Heck I don't even know if we have the proper clothes for it here in this area...AS for ZZs she is one spoiled kid, don'tcha think...LOL...Hay

It's so cold here you can freeze in a 70º house!
This weather is called "Arctic Blast".
It only got down to 8 below last night.The big girl coop stayed 32 and the silkies stayed 28,that was a good thing.Tonight and Monday only 0 to3 for a high all day and way below 0 both nights.Heat lamps will stay on for a couple more nights in the big girl coop and it allways stays on in the silkie coop untill the nights stay around 25.
BBBbbrrrr..I didn't have to wear a jacket today..it got kinda warm so I was able to go outside and work in my hothouse..moving some plants around so I can start my tomatoe seeds this week...I been getting very light frost every now and then but nothing like you northern people get..too dang cold for this ole girl...
Moodene, you're starting your tomatoes this week? I'm so jealous!!! Still BRRRRRR here too but warmer than some, only supposed to be minus 5.

It's cold out there!
It got down to -15 with wind chills -35 last night and its still -13 right now,both coops are 19 degrees with heat lamps.I`m sure doors are frooze will really have to pull and push to get them opened.Have not gone out yet waiting for the sun to come up.Only 0 for today.Be glad when this is over with.Hot oatmeal for the big girls this morning silkies won`t eat it.All my inside windows are iced up but its nice and toasty in here.thnak you God for my warm home.
I was able to get out into Beautiful Sunshine yesterday! I cleaned the hen house again and set traps! I looked at my haybables and Im thinking about getting them started for my garden.
I was able to take off my outer jacket and work . I raked leaves and added them to a couple of the coops. The Seramas and Cochins loved it. Gave them something to scratch around and play in.
I even had enough thaw to clean out my little goldfish..er Frog pond. the Frog have eaten all the Goldfish! I raked through the water and cleaned out all the leaves.... pulled out Two huge hibernating Bull Frogs, EEEeeeeyuck! They looked as if they were dead, didnt move t all.. so I grabbed them up by they slimy liitle webbed toes and took them to the low end of my property where the water never dries up . I have planted flag Iris there and some wild water lillies. now the Froggies have a new home! ( They just dont know it yet!)
Those frogs will be back - don't worry! I have frogs I never planted in my pond - which is almost completley frozen today except for the pond heater. Hopefully the goldfish will be ok with the heater there. It worked last year. this year there is so much snow I can't even get into the pond area to check on them!
We have had snow days on top of snow days around here. Big blanket of white and its just not thawing and melting. I have been pretty much stuck inside and also having computer problems so can rarely even get on the forums. Yuck. Bring on spring!
Rita, call Geek Squad. They are expensive but they come to your house and will take care of whatever ails your computer and come back no charge if the problem isn't resolved. Computer time is a vacation from your brain when the weather is bad and you need entertained - and your friends want to know how you're doing!
I have a computer guy I usually use but he has been away so can't get here. I have been waiting for him to come back home so he can get here. I have heard of GEEK SQUAD buy never tried them. I might have too try them if my rewgular guy can't fix it. I can only stay on for afew minutes and then it freezes up. I have to stut down and then power up again and so on. So I mainly stay off.
Rita did you go into safe mode by tapping F8 as it boots up? You can run scans in safemode usually. You can also choose safemode with networking and it will let you online.
One thing that has helped my computer at times too is going to start, run and type in sfc /scannow. Just that way with a space after sfc. That is system file checking, scan now. If your files are messed up it will ask for your windows disk and repair windows files.
My computer used to freeze up because it was too hot. The power supply was just full of dust.
If none of that works for me, I just buy a new hard drive at newegg and put it in. They just plug in. They are either sata or eide hard drives. You can tell by the plugs which one you have.
