Can anyone help with identifying the type of lady bug this is?
CLOSED: Type of Laby Bug?
maybe a potato beetle of some kind?
This is indeed a lady beetle; it is an introduced species (Harmonia axyridis) known as the Asian multi-colored lady beetle. These come in such a wide variety of color patterns, that one easily could think that several different species were involved - see http://tinyurl.com/2f3e6tq for a small sampling. They have made pests of themselves in some parts of the country for their habit of entering buildings during the autumn in search of winter shelter.
Thank you so much. Your answer was very informative.
colorado tater bug? mexican bean beetle? I hope it is a different colored ladybug. The imported ones are orange with black spots and like to go indoors in cold weather
