No, Lin - makes me want to move in next door! I wouldn't mind living next door to Martha or Debra or Dave, either!!!

Great photos for the New Year!

I'm heading out today to look for inobvious Epipremnum flowers and other Aroids in lower Puna. Will show results later.

Have a great New Year's Day everyone!

plantladylin, thanks for the new year thread!
If you noticed most gardeners are also animal lovers. I have enjoyed all your posts. Love the bird pictures the most.

The plant in my last picture was a pink/lavender flowerspike.

This is my oldest and favorite Philo. Giganteum.

Red Oak, TX

This one is a very slow grower, but is also one of my old favorites.
Phlo. Giganteum Albo variegata.

This noid brings back fond memories of a plant shopping trip to Houston, with two very nice DG's

Last but not least is a dangly plant. String of Bananas.

I don't have the heart to cut these blooms back, they brighten up the gloomy days.

Can you identify this vine?

Dave: Look forward to pic's of Aroids ... and hopefully area's of Puna!

prita: Love Philo's! I used to have a few ... lost to last winters freezes. That Giganteum is really gorgeous and I love that Albo variegata! I think my String of Bananas still has blooms on it. It's been hanging in the guest bedroom the past 2 months since the first cold snap. Pretty Bougie's, I like that combination of colors. I don't know what that vine is but I sure like the looks of it ... hope someone can identify it!

Your noid flower looks a lot like Sphagneticola triloba("Creeping Daisy"): http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1303/ I have this stuff growing throughout my backyard.

or maybe Wedelia paludosa: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55894/

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

well here you all are thanks for starting the new thread.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

pretty much the only thing blooming right now for me outside, is Peruvian Daffs (pix) and the Florida Iris (purple & yellow)

Very pretty, I really like that one!

Hey Rita is this perhaps the same pothos that you sent to me this past fall?

Hi guys,
Well Thank You very much for the offer's to help with the membership. But I'd rather see donations made to the folks who really need it like the flood victims in CA or those that went thru those terrible snow storms up north. I won't be MIA for long, just need to pay down some bills and that means really tightening the belt for a bit.

Rita - your vine is Aristolochia trilobata Dutchman's Pipevine http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55366/

Host plant for the Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly....here's a pic of the caterpillar, I grow it just for them. The bloom is fairly small and the vine can get huge !

I've spent the last few days dragging plants out of the barn, and cleaning in the greenhouse as well as doing some repairs around the farm. Busy week next week. Hopefully I get a chance to post some pics before tonight !

Martha, if you want me to help, just dmail me.

Great photos all from the past thread and this newest one too.

Lin, I enjoy all your pictures that are not plant related as well and what a nice P. xanadu you have. I admire that large Dischidia ruscifolia and I'm glad you got to take the cover off for a while.

Dave, nice Dieffenbachia and I hope you are able to get some photos of Epipremnum flowers. I'm sure several would really like to view them.

Christmas present.

Rita, I think the Philodendron that you posted on the last thread looks very nice and I seen in plantfiles that Steve noted that Lynette is actually Campii...incase you've not read that yet. Love those Giganteums and yours surely show why they have that name.

mjs, I hope your not gone for very long but I do understand what tightening the belt means and thats a cool shot of a caterpillar.

Another Christmas present.

Rachel: Oh my, Oh my .. That one with the variegated foliage has to be one of the prettiest Philo's I've ever seen! Name, please?

Your second photo looks a lot like the Philo pictured below that I grew from a cutting I took from my sisters plant when we were visiting them in Fort Lauderdale a couple of years ago ... unfortunately the freeze killed it last winter.

I'd say you will have chalice blooms soon - I lost mine this spring. I ALSO lost my var. Brug 'maya' - it got SO cold in my area during the 2010 spring!

Red Oak, TX

Plantladylin, I forgot to compliment you on the excellent CC picture. Mine are just now starting to show a little color. I will have to refer to them as my New Year Cactus.
Thanks for the ID on the Wedelia paludosa, I read where they make a good hanging basket. I do not think that they will be winter hardy here.
I was not aware that the string of bananas bloomed.

DirtyGirl71,your Peruvian daffodils are vey pretty! I will have to find me a few bulbs, any plant that will bloom this time of the year is a good thing.

Thumbnail by prita
Red Oak, TX

pensacolagarden, that is a Devil's Ivy or Golden Pothos, I have to cut it back in the fall to get my plastic on the HH.
It seems as if it did not skip a beat going through the mail, I thought that they would have lost all their foliage. Good Job
I have a cutting of the variegated monstera and a few other plants to send you in the spring.

Metrosideros, thanks for the help, mjsponies has identified the vine as a Aristolochia Trilobata, I've had it for so long without any blooms I forgot what it was.
That picture is what dreams are made of. It seems so very peaceful.

RachelLF, thanks, I hope that you had a excellent Holiday, now we can get back to some serious plant talk. I love your two Christmas presents. I am familiar with the first plant, but have not seen the last Philo. you posted. nice!

mjsponies, thanks very much for the ID on the Dutchman's pipe vine. I have it growing in a hanging basket. I will probably plant it out in the garden to encourage blooms and butterflys. Don't work too hard.
I finally mailed your cuttings of the blue Iochroma today, sorry that it took me so long.

GAgirl1066, I was going to brag on my Chalice vine buds today. It is such a good feeling to find those! Your's seem to be way ahead of mine.
Your Amaryllis is Georgeous, they are all very desirable plants. Is your Brug. Maya or Snowbank? I hope that the weather is getting back to normal for you.

Thumbnail by prita
Blackshear, GA

Rita,
It has never bloomed for me. I just got it last year, so when I went out to the GH today to look, there they were. I was so excited! I thought that it may be one of those that is hard to get to bloom or takes 5 years. I can't wait to see the bloom open.

I think that one is Jamie. I have Maya and Peaches N' cream.

(Zone 1)

GAgirl: Great show! You have some really nice plants. Love the Amaryllis, I gave most of mine to my sister in Fort Lauderdale and the ones I have left I won't know the names until they bloom again. Nice Jewel Orchid, don't forget to take pic's to share when the blooms open! I had a jewel orchid for quite a few years but it must have kicked the bucket cause I haven't seen it around in awhile, LOL. I came across a site a few days ago that had some beauties!

prita: What zone are you in? Your photo's are beautiful as always ... that last one looks like a perfect tropical oasis! Your variegated Monstera is absolutely gorgeous! I have the solid green but have never seen the variegated variety.

Rachel: What a nice Christmas present ... I'd love to know the name of your Christmas present plants, especially this one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=8289281

Begonia "My Special Angel":

Thumbnail by plantladylin
Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I have been following your threads and love all your plants. I could not help showing off my Crown of Thorns that is blooming.

Thumbnail by ilovejesus99
Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

That's a pretty white C of T - I have two white ones and a red one blooming right now - I keep mine really dry during the winter - they are in pots. I had an orange one in the greenhouse and it molded and died - too much humidity.

Lin, gorgeous Begonia, especially the foliage. The plant with the variegated foliage is Epipremnum aureum 'N' Joy' and I would be happy to start you a piece of it, if you would like. The Philodendron you posted a picture of does resemble the one I showed. Would you happen to have a picture of more mature foliage from your sisters plant? If so, I would really like to see it.

Paula, it looks like you are going to get quite a few blooms in the next few days. Great growing and I hope you show them.
